Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Indeed, hang in there! This tablet is worth the waiting! You're absolutely going to LOVE it!

Enjoy the day with your little one!

To all those with kids here, major props for doing what you do! We've got our 3 year old and 13 month old neices this week and it is a major shock to our world, haha. It really hasn't been bad, but yesterday was my first day to work after being back and having them. My wife doesn't start school till next week, so was off with them during the day. From the time I got home at 4PM till 9PM, we didn't have a free minute to do anything ourselves, and honestly, the really are well behaved and there was no major crisis to deal with. It's been interesting and fun this week with them, but putting a 1 year old and a 3 year old in our world with no gradual change is quite the shock.

Yeah, having time for each other is very difficult, you come to really appreciate the time between the kids going to bed and us going to bed, it's the only peace you get while they are young. We actually enrolled our youngest in preschool with my daughter, he goes two days a week, so at least my wife gets 3.5 hours twice a week now. First day of this was Monday, and she was like, it's so weird!

Yes, really appreciated that hour before we went to sleep last night, peace and quiet, haha. I bet that is a bit weird for your wife having that much time now. We're definitely looking forward to our own kids, but this week will definitely make us appreciate the time we have left to ourselves, however long that may be.

Well, I don't know if you remember me ranting about a BGR article on Android vs. iOS sales, and how their reporting left something to be desired. Well now phandroid has a new article, completely blowing their reporting out of the water...

Wow. Well you can see why Apple is getting so desperate in their lawsuits, the trend they are seeing is bad bad bad. Over 2/3rds Android, and now it's not both Apple and Android growing at the expense of symbian and blackberry, but apple is losing to Android now too!

IDC: 68.1 percent of smartphones sold in Q2 were Android, Samsung led the surge

Honestly though a huge portion of this is rumors of the new iPhone. Apple always drops Q2 sales because of people waiting to buy the latest and greatest iPhone.

That is still amazing by Samsung and Android though - very impressed.

Has anyone looked into what it takes to get ahold of the android source code? First thing is like a 8.5gb download just to get the dev area started! I think I will pass on that experiment.

How about we talk about this: No Motorola Droid RAZR HD this Friday, according to Facebook clue

I know it's not a Nexus, not even close, but this is just disappointing and ridiculous. First of all, I am tired of Verizon putting second rate phones on their line up. The Razr series came out and were already a bit behind the curve - they looked good, but the internals and hardware were not. I think Motorola needs to be buried already.

I hate to say that because I would have loved to see a Nexus from Moto with the build quality and longevity that Moto used to be known for. They are just so bad at keeping up with the time.

for example -

The Droid Bionic - Amazing phone! but when it came out, it would have been amazing 6 - 12 months before it saw the light of day - it had amazing build quality, pretty decent performance, but a month later the Razr and Nexus came out....and month later, the Razr Maxx came out...really?

It breaks my heart to think of what a Moto Nexus could be....what do you think?

I agree, Motorola makes great phones, renowned for their strong radios and sturdy appealing builds. I'd love to see a Motorola Nexus; however, I don't hold out any hope for that. I think the inherent openness of a Nexus phone goes contrary to Moto's policy of encrypted bootloaders, something that they've shown no interest in reversing.

^ I've had horrible experience with Moto phones and so have a couple of my friends. Build quality is horrible. Hardware is behind the times, and their so-called superior radios never were any better than any other phone I owned. It did, however, report false signal because it would show 5 bars consistently here at work until it was time to make a call and then suddenly I didn't have enough service to do so. Even tried laying it down, not holding it, and using the headset and it still did that.

Right, but compare 2011 to 2012, same situation, huge difference.

Really hard to judge this past year's numbers because Apple broke the cycle of announcing and releasing the new iPhone in the summer and went with an October release. Q4 of 2011 and Q1 of 2012 actually should have been really strong for Apple, which they actually were Apple's strongest quarters. Looks to be about 30% and 25% respectively.

Judging by the release cycles, Android will gain shares by leaps and bounds in Q2 and Q3 but then Apple will make some ground in Q4 and Q1 but then Android will bounce back even more in Q2 and Q3 again. Incrimental gains year to year for the same quarter is the sign of growth for Android and it is what we are seeing.

I think what is seen as the thorn in Android's side is also what really helps in sales. Android phones are released at different points throughout the year whereas Apple releases one phone per year. It adds to fragmentation, but it keeps Android at the forefront constantly seeing new phones and features at different points in the year.

Hey svt and Halon, you guys have been gold for a while now, when are you going to load up a larger avatar?

If the new Moto is their version of the note, I think I would be all over it when it finally releases 9 months later....
