Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Morning all. Pictures make it pretty clear that it was water, not wind that is causing the issues. Of course that is usually the case. Only a few trees, and signs down (and that one crane). But water EVERYWHERE!

Eerie indeed.

So I thought I would share this funny little exchange between my sister-in-law (SIL) and my niece that was shared with us last night:

N: Do boys wear rings?
SIL: Yes, Daddy wears the ring I gave him when we got married
N: Oh, because you're the boss of him?
SIL: No, I'm not his boss, we are best friends.
N: What do you do with each other?
SIL: Well, we hug each other and help each other.
N: And wrestle too??

I fear my marriage is just about over.

I think I can speak for us all when I say we're sorry to hear that another marriage - especially YOURS - is in trouble. Mine's been in serious trouble before. And I'm talking on the brink - finding lawyers and talking about who gets what.

If you want to, you can read on...

But I did what I had to do: I swallowed my pride, apologized for my part in bringing the marriage to its knees (which was a significant part, turns out), and vowed to make it right... and I did.

We both decided that love is a VERB, not a noun. It's a deliberate ACTION, not a hole you fall in and out of; that we have to choose to love every day: even when it's not necessarily what we might WANT to do at that moment.

So we loved our way through it. I let her set the terms. And I met them. We talked. We communicated. And loved.

December 21st will be our 22nd Anniversary in a marriage that (a) should never have happened in the first place, really; and (b) should have statistically ended in both 1997 and 2005. But we're still at it, still loving, still taking the sweet over the bitter.

I don't know if that will help, Talisman, I truly hope and pray it does. If you want to rap about it with someone who has been there, PM me anytime.

Bottom line is that we're here for you...

:o

Morning friends! Still have power here thankfully. Our hole to China has been started courtesy of the tree that fell over. My brother said the city is almost as eerie in daylight but that at least there are a few people out and wandering. The Jersey coastline is demolished and its heartbreaking to hear Gov. Christie reading off the damages and closed roads. Right now I'm not sure I could go more than a few miles in any direction.
jhtalisman - I'm very sorry to hear about your marital problems. I hope you can work them out.

I know this isnt a nexus 4 thread but i thought somone here might be able to help. I live in Ireland wich currently has no google play store for me to buy the Nexus 4 off but if i buy it in a shop it will cost me roughly 150 euro extra. So i was wondering if i bought one from google in England would all the features such as paid apps and software updates still work. T hanks in advance as i dont want to end up buying the phone only to see that it dosnt work.

I posted this here as i thought someone might of bought their galaxy nexus from england to use in ireland.

Liamo, I'm not entirely sure. We don't have too many Europeans who frequent this thread. You can try the Nexus 4 forum for support. I wouldn't imagine the variations between those two country's models would be that different.

Report from the front:

Our daughter spent the night with 14 girls sleeping on the dorm's kitchen floor to stay away from the shaking windows. Their building is in the West Village and lost power yesterday afternoon, but no flooding there. So it sounds like one big slumber party :D

This morning, still without power (likely that way for days) they are all walking 40 blocks to the Applebee's in Times Square. A friend works there. They have power and said to come up and eat and charge cell phones.

One Grand Adventure.

And based on info from you guys, I told her to watch out for roving gangs. ;)

Did you see the dangling crane on 57th? Now THAT's a mess.

Glad to hear she is ok!

Yeah, that crane, I thought the coverage was way overdone, but now, when you think about it, HOW ON EARTH are they going to get that thing down!? That is an engineer's worst nightmare. They had a guy on the radio call in about it, he was saying how removing the crane is already extremely dangerous. ANd now its a tangled, precarious mess. Fun. NOT!

I'm sure someone else here can wisecrack better, but watching that crane collapse, all I could think was don't they have Viagra for cranes? :vroam:

BB glad to see you pop in and you are all ok. IHMT, glad your daughter is safe and having an amazing adventure and yes, I thought about viagra, lol. Welcome Liamo! JHTalsiman, sorry for what your are going through, Chief had some good advice. Halon, I have stock piled incandescent bulbs, but you wont find me paying 60 for any bulb. To everyone else, happy "Devil's night" as they say in Detroit. BTW, it is a very stupid thing to celebrate, when we use to live in Michigan, outside Detroit, you feared someone would set your house on fire on "Devil's Night" so you were sure to be home with all your lights on. In the past, their would be hundred's of fires in the city, better now, but still a problem.

I don't know what to say or think about this. Star Wars? That's kind of the standard by which other sagas are compared. Messing with it is like playing with matches in a dynamite factory: you either do it very carefully and very well, or you blow the whole thing.

I truly hope they base the stories on the "Heir to the Empire" trilogy of books. It was a seamless transition from Return of the Jedi, and truly picked up where the movies left off. If Disney can do Episodes 7,8 and 9 out of that... then WOW.

Just WOW.
