Geminids meteor shower is TONIGHT/Early AM! I've already seen 2 good ones as lead ins, so it should be a great show for us less... metropolitan peeps :)

Morning folks! Been away the last couple of days for some doctor visits. Starting to get really busy here at work trying to get things taken care of before everyone takes off for Christmas and at home with all the Christmas gatherings and such.

Pup, hope Evan gets to feeling better!
 
So I think I have found my thesis topic, I'm going to do it on rapid prototyping / 3D printing, especially the metal variety. Here is an example:

it is made of steel, with a spiral staircase inside of it. (you can see the light reflecting off the steps at the top, and through the window). Could make one badass chess set ;)

Also found out I am being made a sub lead at work. It's the first level of the leadership track at my company. Of course until you hit official management, all leadership positions are "permanent" frocks. no pay increase. :p but still kind of exciting. Great way to finish off the year :D

Anyone else thing it would be a great tactical move on Google's part to leave Google Maps on the iPhone for several months, maybe even a year, and then pull it from the store and force them to go back to the crappy Apple maps? LOL I bet they would get some to switch to Android that way.

Nah, it would just piss apple users off to never switch. No, nothing will be as effective as what Apple did themselves ;)

The worst part is that they actually might because it violates the TOS for the app store. I think one of the conditions is that you may not release an app that directly competes with an apple app.

Though I think they'll make an exception in this case because the backlash would be out of this world.

I know quite a few people who have commented on their frustration for changing out default apps be it the browser, keyboard (which I know they can't do) or maps with 3rd party ones.
