Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Been pulled over once for a non reason. Cop in Kansas thought my tags from Ohio were expired. Nope! Let me go (nice guy). Told me to look into it.

Only time I was pulled over, I was doing 50 in a 55. Cop forgot what road we were on and thought the speed limit was 40.

Only once! Damn. When I was younger I had to take a test to get points taken off and had my license taken off me for 30 days. I still drove though :D

I just remembered I was pulled over in Virginia back in 2010 around 3am driving to a job interview and was doing 70 in a 50. I told him I was going to an interview thinking he'd let me go. Nope.

Yeah only once for me also, got me completing a pass, otherwise I don't speed more than 5 mph over. My wife on the other hand.

34 years of driving and I have been pulled over once. I was doing 70 on a 55 highway, crested a hill and stared right at a State Trooper

Needless to say, they don't give warnings. It was a very expensive ticket.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using SwiftKey Flow

I also flipped over my first car, wasn't speeding. I hydroplaned and ended up down a small hill. A tree stopped me from getting out of car myself and I was about to kick out the windshield but someone showed up.

The cop on scene gave me a speeding ticket. I fought and won.

Whew, I am tired today. Normally daylight savings time start isn't bad until Monday, as the kids don't understand it, and sleep in late so we don't really lose any sleep. But my son fell asleep at 4pm yesterday, and never woke up... Until 5am (4am old time) this morning. So much for that. :p

My wife get's hit frequently by the traffic cams in DC. She knows where all of them are but still suffers. I call them greeting cards from the DMV. ;):p

Is it true that if one doesn't respond to a ticket from a traffic cam that it just goes away? I've heard that those tickets aren't valid.

Depends on the jurisdiction.

Here, the citizens fought it, so they scored the road to make your tires rumble on approach to the light, claiming that was legally fair warning, same as if you saw an officer watching you.

Don't respond here, and it's deep trouble, and go to court, and they accept no defenses.

Only one is near me for miles around - and I freaking hit it the other night.

First moving violation in 25 years, and any local cop would have let me go. I got distracted when my wife was feeling sick, and there was no one around.

Oh well - it's the law, I can't really argue with that. :)

Chief,

I think those are the controls where you can maximize the screens real estate, by effectively getting rid of the nav bar (or at least that's how it used to be). And to navigate you clicked on one side of the screen and the controls came up in the shape of a pie, so to speak.

I haven't tried it yet, but I think that's what they mean.

Can anyone here, in a brief few words, give me an idea what Pie is? Other than the tasty dessert and not 3.14159, but Pie in Android 4.2.2. JBSourcery has Pie controls, but I'm not sure what they do.

Chief!

Check it out. You know how in the AOSP Internet Browser you can go into settings and turn on pie controls for navigation in that app?

Pie controls allow you to use that same concept to navigate through your phone. It effectively renders your nav bar unnecessary, so I would imagine you can also hide the nav bar in these settings. Then you have a full screen to work with and a nav pie to call up when you need it.

Brb. I have a screen shot I can share with you.

This is from the ICS days but is still applicable. I used a mod for AOKP to remove the nav bar and the nav pie is activated by a bezel gesture, set to your liking in terms of placement and width in relation to the bezel.

Hope that helps.

:D

Got my son's Nexus and my Ginny on Pie controls. Nav bar hidden. ROCKIN! :D
No offense but I thought you of all people would have known about pie controls. Heck, been using it on and off for about a year! :vroam:

You're still The_Chief in my book :D;)

Jmar, as I have always maintained: I know everything. I just don't remember it all at the same time :p

:D
I seriously let out a chortle reading this post. I am thoroughly impressed with your knowledge and abhorred by your inability to retain it. Your dichotomous nature is confounding. That is all.

Except for this: :eek::confused::rolleyes::p;):D:o:cool:

Hope everyone had a great weekend.
Just got to Google Hangout with my parents and 2 brothers... Technology is great and keeps us connected! Have a good night!

Morning all... Wow, a good night and a morning in a row!

Had a little freak out this AM.. Got up about 415ish and my gaming computer would not turn on.. This after spending an hour and a half last night installing a new water cooler... Turns out the plug for the water pump itself did not get plugged in properly.. User error. The fans were plugged, but not the pump. Whew.. Thought I killed the CPU. Oye.
Okay, so now I am awake.
Good Monday Morning... I think.

Ugh, rough morning. Getting up at 4:30 is bad enough without my body telling me it is 3:30. Coffee is my friend. :p

Good morning all - ugh, Mondays.

Woke up this morning to my newly installed 5.1 bootlooping - really weird. Not sure how long it was doing it for. I pulled it off the charger, pulled the battery and it was fine.

Totally clean install and only user apps/data restored from before.
