I've read that a version has already been rooted. If the Verizon version can be rooted, and I can upgrade one of my dumb phone lines to the S4 so I don't lose my unlimited data, I might be tempted...
Yeah, there's a hypothetical root method that so far works on all the s4s that run on the Snapdragon chips. Won't know for sure until a dev gets their hands on it and attempts it. Given that the s3 was locked and the AT&T s4 bootloaders were locked, it should be assumed the Verizon version will be as well.
