Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Hey all, poking my head in - work's been super busy this week! Missing Monday set me behind quite a bit, unfortunately.

Totally worth it though, I was at a gorgeous wedding in Chicago for my cousin over the weekend. Lavish, and TONS of food, all delicious. We started with appetizers during the cocktail hour after the ceremony - mini crab cakes, lamb chops, and mini quesadillas. We then proceeded into the main hall for dinner - first course was a mixed greens salad with pears and goat cheese; main course was a steak, a salmon filet, and a diamond-shaped potato-and-cheese thing, somewhat similar to au gratin. Each table also had a big plate of chocolate covered toffee that was amazing. Then, later, when everyone was up and dancing, people came out with more food! Trays of french fries, mini grilled cheeses, milkshake shots, and cheesecake balls.

The best part was that they didn't have a wedding cake - they had cupcakes! There was a huge tower of cupcakes, tons of different kinds: red velvet, double chocolate, key lime pie, vanilla with sprinkles, etc etc. Everyone was so full! Had a great time though, and very happy for my cousin, of course.

On Sunday, the lady and I went around Chicago, did some of the touristy stuff - Navy Pier, Willis Tower, water taxi on the river, etc. Monday was hanging out with my parents before heading home. Great weekend overall :) Hope everyone else had a fun weekend as well.

Interview was awesome. Second interview is Friday. Best Buy in San Jose, CA at Santana Row!
Good luck jmar! :)

Yeah, but this was her car originally. I had a 2010 Camaro... Emphasis on had...

Dang, don't think I like the way that that sounds...

Fwiw, I taught my wife to drive stick on my 350Z about 8 years ago. She (and I of course) still ONLY drives a manual transmission since.

... then again... I do feel a bit old school sometimes (like when I bust out the straight razor to shave).

My 3rd car was/ is currently a stick

Bought it without knowing how to drive it. My step dad had to do the test drive and get it to a parking lot post purchase so I could learn.

Razor, sounds like a ton of fun. Wife and I (years ago when we weren't married) took a short trip to Chicago. I absolutely love that city. When she graduated college I crossed my fingers hoping we could move there but it didn't work out. :(
Hoping we can make another trip there at some point. Way, way too many good restaurants to visit. :D

Some one wanna come here and "rock" me to sleep with a rock gezzz insomnia suckssssaa might as well go make some coffee anyone want any? My treat? Lol

I prefer Boston overall, but it's fun to go visit family in Chicago a couple times a year :) You're definitely right about the restaurants though, they have tons of great places to go! If you do go back, let me know - I'll give you some recommendations! There's a late-night avant-garde theater that I always tell people to check out, it's tons of fun.

Good morning all! Happy almost Friday!

Congrats jmar - good luck on the second interview now.

So I decided to keep my car for now even though I really want to drive stick. My dad put it into perspective for me such that I would basically be doubling my mileage (at least) just because I wanted to drive stick which in the end doesn't really make sense when I have a wedding in less than a year. So my plan is to slowly get the odds and ends all fixed up and maybe even start parting out aftermarket pieces I know I won't use or just bought on impulse and when the wedding is over then look at getting a second manual car for me and the lady to drive on weekends or trading my car for something that is manual. I love my car too much to start parting it out now just to drive stick - in due time it will all fall into place though.

I am still keeping my eyes peeled though in case I happen to stumble across the deal of a lifetime - so essentially the car is "always for sale" for the right price.

Good morning folks and happy Thursday / end of May!

So the Motorola X is REAL, and it's coming soon! I'm so stoked!

Parents are STILL here, due to leave Saturday, then I can get back to my pestery self in and around the forums. For a week or so... then it's off to Bonnaroo to see Paul McCartney and Bjork... and about 100 other acts and 90,000 new friends :D

Big news in the Chief household:

Poor Darling Bride. She, as a Navy professional, did whatever she could do for as long as she could. But her medical conditions just got worse and worse, until she had no choice but to stop working and apply for SSDI, which is that disability insurance we all pay for in our tax withholding.

It was denied. We appealed. Denied. We appealed again, requesting a judicial hearing. Years passed.

Got a lawyer, went before the meanest judge in the world, who denied her claim AGAIN despite a plethora of evidence.

With a final appeal left, the lawyer sent briefs to the Appellate Council alleging that the judge made errors. The Council AGREED, and remanded the case back for another hearing with a new judge.

That hearing was yesterday. It took all of four minutes...

Judge: Attorney, I have read your brief and supplemental, and I agree! Are there any questions?

Attorney: No, your Honor.

Judge: Good. This hearing is concluded.

A fully favorable decision (with back pay going back to the beginning of her fight in 2008)!

Folks, there is so much more to this story than I have time or effort to write on the phone, but we on Earth had nothing to do with this. The Good Lord turned utter defeat into resounding victory in a big way. Believe what and how you will, but too many things happened at just the right time to be mere coincidence. God things happen from time to time, and this was one of those things.

So happiness reigns today in Casa de Chief :D

Have a great today everyone - you only get one day to live at a time, so you may as well make it a great one!

:)

Awesome! Congrats Chief! So many people out there drawing disability that shouldn't yet never really get questioned. Then an honest case like your wife's comes up and it takes fighting and clawing to get it. Glad to hear it finally got ruled in your favor! :D

Today, is the last day of High School !!!
I barely remember being in high school. Enjoy your last day!
Nexus experience HTC One!!! :D
Ok, this makes me happy. I like the build of HTC phones and I love Nexus so it could be a good thing. Now I just have to figure out how to save money for it. :)
