Good morning folks and happy Thursday / end of May!

So the Motorola X is REAL, and it's coming soon! I'm so stoked!

Parents are STILL here, due to leave Saturday, then I can get back to my pestery self in and around the forums. For a week or so... then it's off to Bonnaroo to see Paul McCartney and Bjork... and about 100 other acts and 90,000 new friends :D

Big news in the Chief household:

Poor Darling Bride. She, as a Navy professional, did whatever she could do for as long as she could. But her medical conditions just got worse and worse, until she had no choice but to stop working and apply for SSDI, which is that disability insurance we all pay for in our tax withholding.

It was denied. We appealed. Denied. We appealed again, requesting a judicial hearing. Years passed.

Got a lawyer, went before the meanest judge in the world, who denied her claim AGAIN despite a plethora of evidence.

With a final appeal left, the lawyer sent briefs to the Appellate Council alleging that the judge made errors. The Council AGREED, and remanded the case back for another hearing with a new judge.

That hearing was yesterday. It took all of four minutes...

Judge: Attorney, I have read your brief and supplemental, and I agree! Are there any questions?

Attorney: No, your Honor.

Judge: Good. This hearing is concluded.

A fully favorable decision (with back pay going back to the beginning of her fight in 2008)!

Folks, there is so much more to this story than I have time or effort to write on the phone, but we on Earth had nothing to do with this. The Good Lord turned utter defeat into resounding victory in a big way. Believe what and how you will, but too many things happened at just the right time to be mere coincidence. God things happen from time to time, and this was one of those things.

So happiness reigns today in Casa de Chief :D

I am so overwhelmingly happy for you and Mrs. Chief. Echoing what has been said, you deserved better and fought the good fight. It is stories like this which remind me about the good side of paying my taxes. Too often we focus on those who manipulate the system to live off of tax payers. Thank you for sharing something completely opposite of that. Now go celebrate!

Also, thanks for the encouragement from everyone in the WH, including my GS3 WH family. I just got a call from an Acura dealership this morning for a job interview. If I can land both jobs my Wife gets to quit work, which means we are going to start trying to make another little jmar, hopefully a jmarette. Been praying a lot on this as we have been moving toward this arrangement ever since I quit Starbucks. Anyway, send me your best juju...

Unfortunately I just wanted stuff - used numerous cards for anything and everything. I'm about half paid off, hoping to be able to finish it in less than 2 years.

Awesome jmar!! Hope and pray things work out for you with both of them!

It's going to be a tough call on the HTC One for me. By the time we are out of contract with Verizon, there'll probably be newer phones or rumors of newer phones I'll be drooling over. I can upgrade my line in August with Verizon but not out of contract till January I don't think.

And thanks for all the congrats, folks. This was a long, hard-fought battle that WE didn't win. It was won for us. With all the fraud, waste and abuse in the system ( like that woman in California who wants to be the fattest woman on earth so she ate herself onto disability :mad: ), it frosts me that so many people who actually NEED the money are denied it.

And no one should call Social Security Disability an "entitlement" or a "handout": it's an insurance payout and it's wrong to hand it to people just because they walk in with a cane, walk out, and go shoot hoops or play golf. Sadly, no one wants to address the fraud for fear of losing a vote... so the system just gets worse & worse & worse.

I would take the regular One on Verizon, and I kind of agree with EM on the Google Edition.

Chief, I'm so happy you were able to get that resolved in your favor! 5 years of back pay too? Sounds like time for a vacation!

The good news is, it makes aosp ports for those with the regular edition fairly simple. No need to rely on cm or some other dev team spending months porting it.


I'm sure that goes the other way as well. You could always flash a sense rom

And like the SGS4 GE - add the things that AOSP is missing and with those platforms to work with for blended-AOSP-OEM roms and that will be really something. :)

The One GE is the same hardware as the One Developer Edition, so yeah, flashing stock would be easy.

Are you kidding??? In her plans she's already spent over 12 years and counting! She's going to HAVE to do what I asked her to do: make a list of NEEDS and WANTS and prioritize them. Then do the most important things. When the money runs out, that's it :)
 
All the phone news lately has been exciting! Two"Nexus like" phones and the Moto X. Yep, exciting. Until you realize Verizon is your carrier.
 
Whoa whoa whoa, Halon! Last I read, Verizon is getting the 1060 model of the X phone! You read something different?

If you have, just be gentle and break it to me easy :p
