Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Did I recall correctly that's the same variant in the rumored new Nexus 7?

You did but they're confused on the blogosphere.

The new one is rumored to get the APQ-8064.

APQ=application processor, MSM=includes modem on the chip.

The APQ-8064 is the quad S4, using the same gpu as the S4 Pro but missing some throughput for each CPU core compared to the Pro.

Given that it's a quad, it's just something that Qualcomm did to not call it one of the Pro models and the distinction isn't important.

I just hate sloppy reporting, the Qualcomm spec sheets are easy to come by and that's what I'm going by.

Sounds good. Is it comparable to the one in your LTEVO?
Tegra 3 gets the job done for my N7 and Prime but it can slow down in general processes. I'm not a gamer so those benefits of it are lost on me.

Hey everyone! Working this morning, but off this afternoon.

I hope all the fellow fathers (and fathers to be ;)) have a great fathers day!

Have a great day, Anti, and a happy Fathers Day to you! :)
Went on my first run in forever and it felt great. At least it's cool enough out now in the mornings for it not to be a complete sweat bath. ;)

The s4 pro is what's in the Nexus 4 and it simply flies. If you had be "stuck" with it, it wouldn't be such a bad thing.

Should be a pretty good weekend. My niece and nephew are staying tonight. Plans include going to watch the Superman movie tonight and then pizza somewhere afterwards. For fathers day we age going to a Pirate game. I thought it would be good for my nephew since his dad passed away. I try to do as much as I can with him. And my niece would rather go with me to the game instead of spending it with her dad. Anything I can do to piss that guy off is good day in my book. HAHA!

Just looked it up, and it appears that the Nexus 4 uses the APQ8064 version of the S4 pro which is the quad-core variant, rather than the MSM8960T dual-core variant that is rumored to come in the XFone. Should still be quite an improvement for the Gnex users though.

The updated replacement for the APQ-8064 is the Snapdragon 600, as found in the One and SGS4.

The updated 600 with on-board modems (programmable world modem, as found on the S4 processor) is the Snapdragon 800, releasing soon.

As stuff is still at the rumor stage, thought I'd mention that in case they came up.

This is the Superman we've been waiting for. Fantastic origin story. Hell, the whole story was good. This movie was good from beginning to end. The action scenes were just epic. I will be seeing this again on Monday in 3D.

Really? Man of Steel got a pretty bad review in the paper here. I'm still intrigued though.

Without seeing your hopes too high... it's the best (i.e. most well done from start to finish, action packed and enjoyable) movie I've seen this year (trust me, I see a LOT of movies).

Does anybody know if these gapps, will work on our Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Just saw them yesterday after rooting around aokp's website, for new nightly rom.

Rom is here AOKP.co: toro the 6/15 nightly,

The gapps I'm interested in are here on Goo.im
http://goo.im/devs/trevd/gapps/gapps-jb-20130615-signed.zip

I don't see anything about whether they are Verizon or Sprint or something else? If I check on Goo.IM from my phone, it has gapps dated back to 20121210, which seems pretty old.

Been a great Father's Day for me... a wonderful, heartfelt letter from the son and a mushy card from the Darling Bride. Made a call to Dad.

You're probably wondering why I'm posting during Bonnaroo. Easy: I had to LEAVE Friday night, just minutes before Paul McCartney took the stage. Why? I had to go to the Emergency Room! Blood tests, xrays and a CT scan later, the doc's best guess for my severe abdominal pain was...

FOOD POISONING!

I never saw a single concert.

But you know what? It's really okay. Really. I was surrounded by drugged-out, alcohol-fueled 23-year olds. 90,000 of them! We were packed in there so tightly that sardines would complain... and (of course) I was the weird old man to their young eyes and avoided like the plague.

But you know what? It was a learning experience that I will never again repeat. My big bed and hot shower at home* were a wonderful consolation to the loss of my deposit. It's nice to be home, and I'm improving slowly but surely as this garbage makes its way through my system in ways I need not detail here.

*-There were about 2000 people in Staff Lot B where I was camped, and 14 showers for everyone. I got up at 5:15 AM just to go shower while everyone was passed out and there was hot water. There were about 25 Port-O-Potties for us all, and they were disgustingly under-serviced. I've roughed it many times, folks, but Bonnaroo takes the prize. Never again.

Oh wow, Chief, what a nightmare. And what a shame - we know you were looking forward to the experience. Sorry you had to suffer through that, but sounds like you weathered the storm like the Seadog you are, with sense of humor intact. Welcome home.

Thanks Bread and Treo. I appreciate it. It was extremely hot & humid, and food preparation had no refrigeration involved that I could see. So it was made, stored, cooked, served and eaten in the summer heat. I should have known... but hey: it was a meal I'll NEVER forget! :p
