Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Looking like July 11th will be the day that Motorola announces the X and Ultra phones.

I sure as heck hope so. My Nexus is about done.
 
well guys its a sad day for me ... after calling Verizon and them sending me 4 different replacement phones (called about various things) in the span of 2 months Verizon gave me choice

1) use upgrade (extend contract)
2) try and find a "new" galaxy nexus and send it to me (extends contract)
3) get a different model phone (refurbished) until end of my contract (does not extend contract)
4) do nothing

I took the third option because these referb phones at least for the nexus are bad with vzw and I am at the point where i just want my phone to work SO ...

I was able to choose between a Motorola Razer Maxx, Samsung G S III, and an HTC DNA

so next Monday my new "used" GSIII will be here ... I have to send back my nexus and I am going to miss it dearly

We are OFF the diet wagon today - and we are scarfin' some foody-poos up in here! Cloudy and rainy here, so no fireworks. We'll make our own right here at home!

OHHH man I saw this and i am going to do it but with whole LOT more heat ill use my Ghost peppers when i get them fresh off the vine here in a month or two
 
An S3 is not a bad replacement. Just root and ROM it with something AOSP and you should be fine. Also, I hear the battery life is slightly better than the Gnex. ;):)

OH trust me it will be unlocked, rooted, and rommed with in 20 mins of it arriving at my house on Monday

and i agree with ya it is not bad but it is not a nexus :( its all about the name and the meaning behind it ... not like having a nexus phone on vzw meant anything to begin with
 
Well if it makes you feel better, the less than stellar radio reception will feel very familiar :p of course if that was never a problem for you with the GNex it won't be an issue now either. I hope you like your new phone!

Hope everyone had a great 4th! I made ribs, and chili rubbed grilled corn on the cob, and mac n cheese. Unfortunately kids are still too young to do a local firework show, due to the late finish, and no fireworks at the house due to what happened 3 years ago, so no fireworks for me. :p

Chief, those poppers look fantastic! I'm very jealous.

My Darling Bride's S3 is rooted and stock. It's a very capable phone (she STILL uses it like a jitterbug, bless her heart), but you're right: it's not a Nexus. And that big honkin' home button would drive me nuts. Give me a slick front any day!

Well, the four of us ate all of those poppers last night. Every one of them... and we were stuffed. Porterhouse steak dinner postponed until tonight :)

Good morning all - TGIF. Happy belated 4th, hope everyone had a good time and stayed safe yesterday.

I drove into work today, hopefully only a half day here. The roads were absolutely empty this morning and I know how bad the traffic can get around here. Had to buy a jump pack yesterday because my battery keeps dying, need to get to the bottom of this although I think its my radiator fan sticking on. I pulled the fuse for now and I'll see what happens after I get out of work today.
 
Morning everyone! Hope you all had a great 4th! :) We had the family over for a big cookout and gender reveal for the babies. I did 2 racks of my secret recipe dry rub ribs which turned out great! Great, light smokey flavor (apple wood) with a little heat in the rub. Also did hamburgers in case someone didn't want ribs (no clue why anyone wouldn't).

After the food we made the two sides of the family compete against each other in gameshow-like fashion answering questions to earn balloons with scrabble letters in them. After balloons were earned they had to race each other to pop them and unscramble the letters to spell the names of each baby (we had discussed all name options with them over the last several weeks). And now for the GNex Watering Hole reveal!

Anyone think that a watchface that tells you the closest gas station and the cheapest gas station (in X mile radius) would be useful on the Pebble?

Already wrote the PHP script, just need to design the watchface now.

Haha, it's going to be fun. I'm impressed you have decided on names already! We didn't decide on my daughter's name until the week before she was born. And my youngest wasnt until l after he was born!

I am so tired of the rain. It's been cloudy and rainy for a full week here now! I don't live in Seattle! :p
 
Well we had settled Landon but then grew pretty tired of it because we knew too many. Anyway, decided on Weston (not sure of spelling yet..Westin, Westyn, Weston?) and Paxton. Almost named them Weston and Easton. Haha, figured that wouldn't be good.

Quick question...why does both my wife's phone and mine only charge in USB mode on this charger? And does anyone know of one that will charge full AC charging? I know you can modify the cable somehow to enable it, but I'm going to have to dig that up...would prefer one that just did it.

I understand that some chargers short the data cables to put it into fast ac charging mode. I heard that from Harry2, he's pretty smart on that stuff. Evidently some iDevice chargers don't. Something like that.

And then other devices have resistance requirements, there's a thread on XDA on how to modify your cable if you're handy with a soldering pencil.

Congrats on the twins! :party: I literally lol'd at Weston and Easton! Sounds like the makings of an old Western saga of a gunfighter and the good one! :rofl: Which means if they were mine, I'd totally do it! :D

This post gives me hope for my s3 ... I hope the signal probloms are not bad that is one of the things I hated so much about my gnex but it was so bad that I would get one bar at @-117 dbm out side in a great coverage area ... give me -100 to -110 dbm to where it will at least work and ill be happy ... ish

The S4 is now on hold for me. I am waiting to hear about the Droid Ultra. Possibly even the Maxx. The Moto X is somewhere off in the distance. I think I can see it if I squint really hard?
