Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Good morning everyone - "happy" Monday.

It is unbearable in the office, seems like the A/C is not on or at least not on high enough. I'd rather be sitting at home wasting my own money on electricity than be here right now.

Yeah we also had rain 8 days straight. Yesterday was the first day without rain, and of course what do I see on last night's news? Tropical Storm Chantal predicted to be off the FL/Ga coast by the weekend. Grr.

Staples has cut the price of the N7 to $199 and $179. Nothing huge but still cheaper than before.

Just saw that The Lone Ranger bombed over the holiday and weekend. I never planned watching that movie anyways.

Ha! She says, "Why do I get the hand me down phone?" :p
Been reading some comparison reviews this morning and, really, it's not a huge upgrade. She just has some problems with her Bionic (the camera especially), so hopefully she'll be in better shape with the Gnex. Will have to get her a new micro SIM since the Bionic uses a regular size one.
My contract is up in December and we'll reevaluate upgrades at the point, but like Jhawk said, looking around Swappa, Craigslist, and Ebay, this was a pretty good deal. :)

The only area you'll really notice an upgrade is in battery life. That S4 processor in it really does give you 3.5-4 hours of screen time with the same size battery as the oem extended gnex. You got it cheaper than when I sold one on here a couple months ago for 300.

As for your contract, you should really give T-Mobile a look since they do already have LTE in D.C. and by that point the Nexus 5 should be out; as long as there aren't supply constraints like there were with the Nexus 4  I know I'll be trying to upgrade to it as well if it has more official LTE capability.

I would like to go with T-mobile but when I look at the coverage map around me all I see is yellow(2g and service partner) :(

Yeah, It seems that they're really only for medium & large city residents. Getting even 15 miles away from downtown areas and it degrades pretty quickly. But in those area where it's good it's phenominal. They really have picked up their service along the main interstates though which makes traveling with them less of a headache.

That's my problem. I'm sure T-Mo would be just fine in DC where we spend the majority of our time. But, the second we leave, how would it be? :o

Does anyone here watch Big Brother (the TV show)?

I know its horribly reality TV, but its the only one I still watch consistently and is still my favorite.

Yeah, I helped my situtation out by porting my Verizon number to Google Voice. I never gave anyone my new T-Mobile number. So when I'm in a good service area, I use Groove Forwarder to foward calls to my mobile number. If I'm in a bad service area but with WiFi, I use it to send them to Gmail which allows me to receive them with GrooveIP and use that VoIP client to take my calls. Texts come through either way as long as I have an internet signal, even if it's EDGE. It's not perfect, but I feel it's satisfactory considering I'm saving $110 dollars a month.

Ugh, I have an unlimited wash pass to a local car wash that has been down for a week and a half due to a lightning strike. My car is filthy! #firstworldproblems

Good news for the day, teeth cleaned and no cavities. On the downside the wife ran over a machine bolt and needs four new tires.

It's not one of those track car washes right?

My car will never, EVER go through one of those.

Motorola Droid Ultra

Where is the speaker? Never mind. I see three little holes at the bottom. I hope those 3 holes release BIG sound.

the camera is said to be a so-called 10-megapixel RGBC model, which will apparently contain an extra sensor (the “C”) that helps establish white balance and exposure. The end result is faster captures and, more importantly, better-looking shots in more diverse environments.

I really hope that's not the phone...if so Motorola hasn't changed a bit. Pretty good hardware packed in a terrible looking phone with no innovation whatsoever..other than Kevlar backing! OMG! :p

Key features I want in my next phone:
-1080p (would settle for 720p) screen
-Good low light performing camera (megapixels are over-rated...just a marketing ploy for the most part)
-Front facing speakers
-High capacity battery

The HTC One comes the closest at this point. Battery capacity falls short of my expectation.

I've said I would never get another HTC phone, but if they had a removable battery I would get the HTC One.

I forgot that requirement...I would accept the HTC One battery as is if it were removable. Otherwise I want a massive battery if not removable.
