Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Since it's Monday and I'm bored...let's give this a whirl.

An average cow produces about 75 or so gallons of methane per day. At a density of 0.7kg per cubic meter, that converts to 0.29 pounds of gaseous methane per day. This comes to around 150 lbs of methane per year.

My 4x4 F150 with the 5.4L V8 produces about 600grams of greenhouse gases per mile driven. I drive my truck about 10,000 miles per year. That's about 13,000 lbs of CO2 per year.

According to sources...methane is 23 times more harmful than carbon dioxide (the main greenhouse gas produced by cars). So a cow produces an equivalent damage of 3,450 lbs of CO2.

Now...I'm a meat eater in every sense of the word. I consume large amounts of red meat. I'm probably in the upper 25% of the population when it comes to red meat consumption. Let's say I consume 0.25 pounds of beef per day. I probably don't...but ocassionally when I crave a juicy steak...I'll consume a whole pound in one meal...I do eat quarter-pound and third pound burgers fairly often...some days I each chicken or fish or pork...some days I don't eat meat (rarely)...so we'll use a conservative estimate. That's 91 lbs of cattle per year. Your average steer will produce around 500 lbs of consumable meat...so one cow would feed me for 5 years.

Conclusion. I don't think eating as much red meat as I do is quite as damaging as driving my F150.

SOMEONE give this man ALL the Internets

I started watching Weeds. It is easy to see where the creator of Breaking Bad got his idea. Both great shows.

agrees its an amazing show but really does fall to crap in season 5 or 6 when ever the mayor or mexico gets involved just turn it off haha

I felt like I wanted a different color on my GNex. Here she is, disassembled, taped, and ready for sanding.

I'm thinking a matte white will look good.

Morning everyone! Anyone else watching shark week? Sunday night's show on searching for Megalodon was crazy!

We no haz cable. :(
Finally loaded up a CM 10.2 on my Nexus 7 and it seems to be running fine. :)
Anyone know anything out this "Focal" app? Seems to be some tweaked AOSP camera app that folks are raving about on XDA.

Good morning!

Just installed a D3 cable modem at 30MBPS and an 802.11ac router in the house. WHEW! That was a total pain to go around the house connecting everything to the new network but baby, the SPEED!

With as many n-speed devices as we have ( plus a g-speed tablet we don't talk about :p ), our pipeline was a little cramped. No more of that! I just did a Speed Test on my n-speed Galaxy Nexus and pulled 32MBPS download speeds. Not bad!

Plus the Moto X's wifi is ac-capable, so I'm secretly getting ready for that ;)

Have a great Tuesday, folks! Off to wait for the Safelite guy to come change out my van's windshield...

Since I've never owned a phone that wasn't unlockable...what exactly does that mean in terms of what you can and can't do with it?

Rooting becomes much harder because you have to exploit a security weakness in order to get it. Custom roms, kernels and recovery are next to impossible without an unlock or finding an exploit(like loki) that tricks the signature checking into thinking it's valid.

Can't flash radios or kernels.

Ah ha... so basically the stuff I planned on giving up anyway with my next phone. Flashing ROMs has become a chore for me. As long as I can get root access at some point, I really don't care.

Maybe I am missing something, but if I plan on paying full cash price anyway, what difference does it make?

If I'm not mistaken...some of these developer edition/google play edition phones don't get all of the features of the regular phone. The software stuff baked in by Samsung and HTC didn't make it to the GPE S4 or One. That means the voice control, gesture control, or pulsing screen notifications may not work.
