You are spot on.

Daughter is dating a German. HIs plan is the opposite, 200 texts, 500 mins, wifi internet only but it's like 6 euro a month for a simple plan.

Whole hog plans, no unlimited there, are around 30-40 euro maybe 50 bucks tops.

Sure you pay $500 a phone, but you are paying $1200 a year for the data here, easily buying a phone.

No contracts either, you don't like Verizon, you switch, so they can't jerk you around like they do here.

I don't think the pricing scheme for phones is broke, is the pricing for wireless service. Talk to any of the folk on here from Europe and it becomes apparent how bad we're getting hosed.

The cell phone lobbyists are well funded and well paid. The top carriers in America will never change... certainly not by legislation. And they're never going to introduce plans that LOSE them money... even if it gains them customers. So unless I want to move to Europe (don't), I'm stuck on their terms. All we can hope for is a price war with ever-dropping prices: but I don't recommend holding your breath.

No worries, Pup. Like I said, it was an early morning purchase/backing. Still got a couple swim trunks to choose from for the end of the season anyway. :)

Also, this is an incredible shot from CNN about the fires in Yosemite. :(

Got my Moto X in yesterday. Sadly the port still hasn't went through so I can use the phone, but incoming texts and calls still go to my Gnex.

Call quality is good. Sound from the external speaker is more than good enough for me. Loud, crisp, low distortion even at max volume. Camera quality is as good or better than the Gnex, but the ease of use is much better. Did the twist gesture to open the camera a few times and it never failed. Voice commands are almost instantaneous even with the phone in sleep mode across the room. No gimmicky features that I don't need, very limited bloat...mainly just the AT&T visual voicemail and the AT&T account access app. Build quality is top notch, no loose buttons as described in a few reviews...very solid phone but lightweight and slim.

@Chief

Hypothetically lets say you want to go with Verizon Edge/Max. Motomaker for Verizon isn't available until November and the Developer Edition I wouldn't imagine be sold on their website(?). The Max part of Edge is only available for an unknown amount of time. It could end before MotoMaker is available?
