Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Good morning, everyone!!

Looks like Verizon may be supported on the Nexus 5 after all.

My marble tubes will grow back (again) before that happens.

Think I'm still going with a G2.

Ugh. I cancelled my Note 3 pre-order because 3 different Verizon employees confirmed to me that even though I transferred my upgrade to a dumb line, it will still take away my unlimited. So now I have to pay full retail for whatever I get.

Now that the G2 is coming out on Thursday, I'm sorely tempted!! If the Thursday mill turns up that its bootloader has been unlocked, I will probably pull the trigger and buy it on day 1, given that Verizon will lock it up tighter than a seal's butt before 24 hours. Then I will play with it and see if I like it. If not, back it goes.

Picked up the puppy today. His name is......NIKO!

I love new puppies! Freaking amazing. Everything is so new to them, it's awesome to watch!

On a happy note,

GO BEARS!!!!

Beautiful game. I wanted to puke the first half. But the second half was pure sweetness.

Since Verizon owns the CDMA network, even when they activate the 1700 MHz LTE, the fact that it had a CDMA radio means it must be certified by Verizon in order to be activated on their network. Since that won't happen, the Nexus 5 will NOT be able to be used on Verizon unless Google makes a version specifically for them.
CDMA lockout? There's some ways around that. ;)

"You can't stop the signal Mal. Everything goes somewhere, and I go everywhere. " :D

But what's the point if it barely works in most markets. I agree with you. For most purposes, I don't think we'll see a Nexus 5 on Verizon unless there's another version, like with the Galaxy Nexus, and do we really want to deal with that again?

Think I'm with you on the G2. The Korean version has already been unlocked and rooted. So good hope.

Note 3 seems just a little physically too big for me. Like most everything else on it, except the hard button on the front. Stylus is interesting, but the G2 has better hardware. Didn't think I was going to take the day 1 plunge but considering it now.

At the end of the day though, as much as I hate my Verizon bill and limited selection, there's always that time when I'm with a coworker who can't make a call on T-Mobile or keeps dropping on AT&T. That makes me grin and bare it.

Ah, sorry to hear. When working with the wife's (and mine) old Bionic, I just couldn't handle that screen. Soooo bad. But, the radio and to a lesser extent the battery, were much better.

I sent a rather terse tweet to Verizon, asking why we have to wait until October 10 for our Note 3s when AT&T is cranking them out between 9/13 and 10/1... not holding my breath for a response

^ First world problems.;)
Chief, I'm really keeping my eye on the Note 3, would love one. Just not sure I NEED it as my S3 does everything I need out of a phone. But dang, does it look awesome. :)

I send negative tweets to them all the time. Sometimes they respond...with "check out our great line-up of phones".

For those waiting for the LTE Nexus 7, it appears to be available now. So who wants to be the first one to try and get Verizon to activate it. :D

I know, I know: first world problems. All the issues going on in the world and here I am, whining that my new phone's taking too long to arrive?

You bet I am. I'm an old Navy Chief and everybody knows a Sailor ain't happy unless he or she's complaining about something :D

What "line-up"? Droids and iPhones? That might as well be all they sell, for as hard as they push them in the store :p

:)

Good morning everyone!

Got to see Yellowcard on their Ocean Avenue acoustic tour last night and it was amazing. Very surprised I have a voice today at work (kinda wishing I didn't). They always seem to find a way to put on a better live show than the last time I saw them.

Ugh yeah this screen is awful and I have the dreaded Android OS bug which is killing me - 5 hours of battery and less than an hour of screen on time?! C'mon.

So I might have to root and then do some bootstrap to the recovery to load up CM10 stable (4.2.2, I think).

Man, I'm so torn, the G2 is coming out in 2 days and I want to look at it, but I know that if I do, I will buy it even though it's not coming in white, supposedly, and it will be a fingerprint magnet and then the Note 3 will come out 1 month later and then I will be pissed because I pulled the trigger on an inferior phone simply because I could not wait, and isn't it weird that I know how stupid it is, which means that I should be able to exert enough self-control to simply wait for the phone that I want, but I know myself and that I will not be able to wait, and I'm a grown man who puts criminals away for a living and look at me, just look at me, I'm behaving like a 12 year old little whiny boy who wants his toy NOW dammit, and I'm just setting myself up for failure, what the hell is wrong with me!!!

Or you could exercise control, wait for the Note 3 and find that's actually inferior to the G2 for your needs, and then kick yourself as you could of had the G2 for over a month by then.

Just some food for thought.

Me, I'm buying the G2. Made up my mind. If I don't like it, or if not enough Dev support, etc, then I'll just sell it and buy something else.

I wish there was a store that had a 30 day return policy. I could just enjoy it for a month then get the Note 3.

I thought best buy had a policy like that. You only have 14 days for canceling service, but 30 days to return & exchange the device.

I may call and ask. Their website says 14 days for most items, 60 days for premier silver reward zone members.

I'm just now getting to see the Apple news since I was in training all day. Figured I would skim the keynote. I can't stop watching because of how hilariously horrendous it is. Enough already with the extravagant adjectives. And seriously...did they just spend a portion of the keynote demoing the new ringtones and notification sounds talking about how great they are?

Actually a good idea regarding the color adjusting flash for proper white balance.
