Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

I don't know all the details, but The Verge says the Nexus 5 has CDMA. I'm sure I'm understanding that wrong somehow.

S4gru uncovered the FCC filings and the larger tech blogs have been reporting based on that

Sprint, ATT and T-Mobile supported

Codename hammerhead- which I love

My store finally got the Moto X in! I got to pick it up and play with it. It's a very nice phone! But you know what?

I'm swayed away. After the launch of the Galaxy Note 3, it seems to do more of what I need and want my phone to do.

I multitask and I need a phone that keeps up with me. The Dynamic Notifications app in Play will do what Active Notifications does... but then, Note 3 comes with S-window. I might not even need it.

Other than "OK Google Now", the Note 3 does what I need a phone to do. Plus it will be available for pre-order tomorrow. I may have to wait until November to get the X I need.

Pull the trigger, Chief!

I just pre-ordered the Note 3 in white. I was able to transfer my upgrade to the dumb phone, but as soon as I get it, I will activate it on my line and continue to pay the dumb phone bill with no increase in cost.

I was thinking of going with the G2, but the N3 has everything I need.

I can't wait!!

Han I'm afraid that what you did isn't going to work. Transferring your upgrade from the unlimited line to the dumb phone line will cause you to lose unlimited when you activate the phone. Also if you activate it on the unlimited line after transferring it to the dumbphone line, without activating it on the dumbphone line first, they will charge you for the full price of the phone.

Are you sure about this? When I opened a new line with the iPhone 5, after I activated it, I switched it to my unlimited data line, and activated a dumb phone on the new line, and everything was fine.

Is it because I transferred my upgrade? I thought this musical-chairs thing would work.

I read somewhere that just swapping out the SIM card from the unlimited line to the new phone is enough.

<------ One happy Chief :D

Got my confirmation number! Pre-ordered the Note 3 full retail for a launch date of 10/10.

That gives me time to find all the accessories I want. Only one problem:

Darling Bride saw the videos of the Note 3 and now SHE wants one too! In coral pink!

Her argument? I won't be able to say "try to figure it out, Babe, I don't have your phone model, how would I know?" when she has a question about it! Now I have to teach her everything I learn about the Note 3 as I learn it... and if she has a question about how to do something (which I expect to get for the next, oh, forever) I'll have no defense.

I'm almost positive I've read of people still doing the extra line dumb phone trick.

I talked to a friend who works as a CSR and he told me it won't work. So I then called Verizon and told he CSR I wanted to cancel my preorder. She asked why. I told her of my exact intentions and that I would rather just buy it retail.

She told me that once I received the preorder phone, when I call to activate it, they would activate it on my unlimited data line, it wouldn't affect my unlimited, and that the dumb phone line would be put on another 2 year contract.

So go figure.

I will call when I get it. I will explain my exact intentions. If it doesn't work, I'll just return it and buy it at full retail.

Gulp.

Someone still hasn't told me about the joke lol

Well, Wyndslash, if you go back through the 30,000 posts in this thread you would probably count at least 1500 posts containing little more than "that's what she said". Usually following an otherwise unremarkable post about a phone's size or shape. Particularly size.

Example: discussion about the Note II and phones in general...

Post: "Wow, this is the biggest one I've ever had!"

Then those four words turn an innocuous post into an innuendo immediately. Thus the rather disturbed mindset of several of the regulars in here ;)

Hope this helps...

Yep, that post can go wrong in so many ways. BTW, this is still a family-friendly forum right?

hehe, I guess we all have a bit of dirty minds. :)

Han,

If it was the dumbphone that was due for an upgrade, you will be fine.

But your post made it seem like the upgrade came from your unlimited line originally, but you transferred it to the dumbphone line. That won't work. You can never use the upgrade on the unlimited line, not directly, not by transferring it. It will kill off your unlimited data.

Nexus7 32gb Wifi sales started here today.
But guys... you've gone too far.
This is the church in our village. What's wrong with this pic..? (Hint: left from the door)

Who done it? :D

It was popularized by the Johnny Carson Show 40+ years ago and that was the joke.

It's every bit as funny today as it was then - not at all.

But as long as it gets more traction by spreading it out for another gender, that'll be even better.
