Help Galaxy Note 2 Navigation Volume Problem

I just bought a Galaxy Note 2 to replace my Iphone 5 and quickly realized that when I use Google Maps and a music app such as Sirius or Rhapsody, the navigation gets drownded out by the music.

There used to be a separate navigation volume control which apparantly was eliminated in the most recent OS version. From the research I have done, this is a big problem with the latest version of Android.

My question, before I return the Note, is whether there is a fix or soon to be fix on the horizon for this issue. The phone is useless to me if I cannot listen to music and hear the navigation as I drive quite a bit.

Thanks in advance.

I can understand where this would be an issue w/ certain music players. I primarily use PowerAmp, while I'm in the car, because it has an equalizer that allows me to lower the volume of the player without disturbing the overall media volume (hence, being able to hear the Navigation louder than the music being sent to my car stereo via 3.5mm adapter). But I don't think this is just from the latest version of Android. I noticed it on my Motorola Photon, which came out with Gingerbread and is stuck at Gingerbread.

Ever since I got my International Note 2, I have't really had a problem, since I use that as my dedicated media player and have Navigation instructions sent directly to my bluetooth headset via A2DP, from my Sprint Note 2.
