Yeah - I am. I'm ready for an upgrade NOW, not actually due till May. If this is on the radar - I would even wait (and - for me - that says bunches). . .
Eh, I already got a Nexus, but I'd be thinking about switching for a Note.

AT&T really pissed me off with the "top 5% bandwidth user" email and text they sent me to try and force me into a tiered plan. My contract was up in October so I can leave anytime I want...if Verizon sells this and still offers the 4GB for 2GB price, I'm so going there.
Hrmmm..though it is total crap that ATT is throttling some of us, (I am at roughly 5gbs for a second month and have not been throttled, got warned at 4gb) their new 5gb plan that includes tethering really isn't that bad is it?
Oh..my guy responded..this will hit ATT exclusively (at first)
sometimes they do hit other carriers later
After talking to many CSR's at AT&T, NONE of them could ever answer "at what point does ATT consider top 5% usage" but tonight I was on chat with a CSR about another question but I decided to ask her and she's the first to give me a solid answer of "5GB and above is considered the top 5% point"...so as long as you're under you should be good. So a warning at 4GB makes sense. Letting you know you're close to their cap of 5GB. I was at 7.5GB when they warned me.
Funny thing was when I mentioned 7.5gb@$30/month is a problem for ATT's network yet 7.5gb@$70/month isnt...she replied saying that she said it doesn't make sense to her either.
Yeah I'd do that as well, that's a good deal. How many gigs were you using that made you top 5%?
well my wifi is broken on my iPhone and I was doing more streaming than usual...i got the text/email at 7.5GB.

I desperately want the Note but am not willing to go to AT&T. Will an international unlock version work on Verizon's LTE? (I don't know what HSPA is). Oh, and if it will work, can I switch to it without verizon knowing it?

Do you have an UNLIMITED data plan with ATT and if so, how can they throttle you back or am I not understanding something about the unlimited plan.
With the Blackberry Storm 2 I was able to use a program called Tether (formerly Tetherberry) and there was no charge for tethering. My usage is very low, even with an unlimted plan but with speed and big screens that could go up quickly. How do you tether on an Android, specifically with ICS (as I assume that the Note for Verizon will be coming out with that) without getting a separate tethering plan?
dlcpa

yeah they hit me at 7.5 in december, then 5 this month.
Mine resets tomorrow though.
I seriously was looking at Verizon but it just wouldn't make sense. I would still pay less if I stay with att and just bite the bullet and switch to the tiered 5gb plan.
Really pisses me off though. 5gb is 5gb..regardless of what plan I am on. I am tired of getting the "congested network" story

Since I knew i was gonna have to be careful on the next cycle I tried to go all out with 3G streaming...i hit almost 12GB on the last day.![]()
Be careful...we are learning that there is up to a 5 day delay in the data being reported
well my cycle started on the 12th...i really only stream on my commute in from PA to NYC...Sirius or dance radio and I'm already up to 900mb in 6 darn days...cripes.
Does that APN trick really work if you're throttled?
