Galaxy Note newest version

Hi guys, I'm thinking of buying a Galaxy Note from a friend that says the device is a couple of weeks old. Can someone tell me what version I should be on the lookout for. I've seen Notes on Craigslist listed as N700, N717, etc. What is the lates version from AT&T. Thanks in advance.

SGH-i717 is the North American (NA) version.

GT-N7000 is the International version.

As far as I know, that's it, there are no other versions of the Note.

There are hardware differences between the two and some apps are missing on the NA version because of this. The AT&T one is the NA version.

The Galaxy Note was initially produced with a black body (dubbed "carbon blue" by Samsung), but a white body was later made available.
The following performance variants of the Galaxy Note have been made available:

The Korean version is called SHV-E160 and has the same specs as the ATT/Canada version i717 BUT with not with the proper bands for North American LTE. Be careful. Someone tried to sell me one as an i717. Check the firmware.

The N7000 has no LTE support but has a better chipset (Exonys) that provides a better CPU and GPU (Mali) and a home button. The i717 has LTE support and because of this, Samsung was forced to use the Snapdragon chipset (as Exonys currently does not support LTE). Snapdragon is a good chipset but the CPU and especially the GPU are not as powerful as the Exonys set.

With that said, I have had both the N7000 and the i717 and I like my i717 better. In real world use you won't see a difference between the two in terms of performance-except for high end games.

Is an SGN made in January the exact same as one made 3 months later? Do they tweak anything because of the problems they encounter? Firmware?
