Just got the phone today and there are a few things I just can't figure out for the life of me.

#1 How can I change the song it plays when you turn it on and off.

#2 How can I set custom ringtones for my text messages. and how can I set different ones for specific contacts.

#3 How can I set different custom ringtones for specific contacts. Currently it wont let me have more the 1 custom ringtone (converted from an mp3) and I can only set that to the phones general ringtone.

#4 For some reason if i'm doing stuff, out of the blue it'll slow down like mad. like running at about 12X slower then normal takes 9-12 seconds to react to any button press. even freezing or crashing it does alot. I have to undo the battery to fix it. How can I fix this?

#5 How can I turn off the auto screen lock? Its a pain to have to unlock it constantly when i'm doing multiple things. how can I make it so it only goes into screen lock if i tap the power button? Or allow me to toggle it in some way?

#6 is there a way to greatly increase the keyboard size? i have big thick hands and with the tiny buttons it takes for ever to type anything in.

in the contacts page click on the name then click menu then options there is the menu to set individual ringtones.

Have you rooted and got rid of crapware? many things running will bog down the phone get rid of the things you dont want and you should not have problems, better yet install the shabbymod.

There is an app in the market called no lock, it is awesome it fixes that just as you are wanting.

I use the swype beta, I dont think there is any way to increase the size but the new swype when setup right seems to work very well.

read up on rooting here. What does "Rooting" your phone actually mean? - Android Forums but how do i do it and how can i remove the crap.

EDIT: I just found how to set custome ringtones to contacts for calling but what about text messaging?

OkI managed to root the phone, didn't instal the shabby mod yet. Will that keep the phone from going to the super slomo state and freezing where i have to remove the battery to fix it? whats my biggest problem.


I should add that i don't leave apps running. when i'm done with it i use the built in task manager to shut the app down. The no lock is the only app i leave running and i had this problem before i DL that.

Wardonis, I'm not rooted but if I leave Bluetooth on I freeze and have to remove the battery. There are thread(s) about this issue and I don't know the status of it regarding a rooted state. I just have been leaving BT off otherwise I see issues. Do you have bluetooth turned on??

How do I turn off the profanity filter? I'm they type of ly, constantperson who doesn't believe there is such a thing as a "bad word". if I use a word like that there is a reason. I don't cus if I do it, there is reason behind it. I can't seem to find an app or anything on line about turning off the profanity filter both for texting and for note taking.

i recently tried to use a .mp3 file for text notifications. now i am trying to delete it with root explorer, and it wont delete. it temporarily deletes it but it comes right back. i am mounted as r/w, the file type says rwxrwxr-x, and it is located in /system/media/audio/notifications.
any ideas?

Just noticed a news problem today. Using spare parts +, my phone is running 100% of the time. When I click on "running" it says time without sleeping 100%.
I'm running thru a full charge in 5 hours. Anyone else have this issue?
I am running shabbymod .08.5 slim. Running perfectly smooth I might add. It just won't go to sleep

download watch dog task manager lite from the market, it will let you see cpu usage and see if there is a runaway widget or something

I got my phone a couple of weeks ago and it had been working fine until today. WHENEVER I tried to make a call, I would just hear a busy signal and couldn't complete the call, or it just wouldn't ring.
The only thing I think I changed was previously I had Facebook sync with my contacts, but I removed that feature.

I had the same problem with mine when I first bought it and fixed it by doing the following :

First , try removing the battery for a few minutes then replace and reboot .

Second , go to menu/settings/about phone/system updates .

Third , select Update Profile . Wait until that is complete . It may take a minute or so .

Fourth , select Update PRL . It will take a minute also .

Hopefully that will fix your issue . If it doesn't , you may want to contact Boost if you are not rooted . If you are rooted , there are several things you can do to try and remedy this problem . Then again , you may be having hardware issues . Just keep troubleshooting .
