Root Galaxy prevail usb file transfer

After messing with my phone a bit I can't get my computer to pick it up and no charger will work for it unless its the one plugged into my computer.
 
try a different usb port, try a diff cable, clean out the end of phone. it should charge even if drivers aren't installed. but reinstall drivers on pc for phone. if all that fails might be a broken phone.
 
I've done all of that and the phone is brand new. I can't find in the phone under wireless & networks settings where it used to say USB something and that's where you had the option to just charge when connected or file transfer.
 
When you connect to your computer you should get a usb icon in your notification bar drop down the menu and click the usb listing and pick the option you want, or something like that

it will still charge without drivers installed, his is not is what he's saying. so that sounds like a bad port on the phone.

if you have something different saved on sd card try flashing it and see what it does. don't think that will fix it though. if not saved on sd if on pc just copy to sd and try then. anything is worth a shot.
