Help Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 - Hard reset not working.

Hi everyone, first off, hello to you all, my name is Jon and I'm new to the forum.

I really hope someone can help me here as I'm absolutely pulling my hair out!!

I have recently been traveling and did not take my Galaxy S2 with me (I'd only lose it!!). When I arrived back in Spain (where I now live) I've totally forgotten my pass code, and don't have a Gmail account.

I've resigned myself to losing all data on the phone, but can't even do the hard reset as shown on countless youtube video's.

These video instructions vary from one to the other, but the general gist, is to press Volume up + Home + Power, then release the power button when the 2nd Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 logo appears. I have tried holding both volume up and down, together and separately, tried releasing all buttons at the same time, only the power button and hold the others etc etc. Basically, what I'm saying is, no matter what combination of buttons I press, all I ever get to is my passcode screen, the boot menu never pops up, the phone loads as normal!!

The phone is on Vodafone, it's a GT-I9100 with a physical home button.

Could anyone here help me with this? I don't mind losing the data, I just want to get back into the phone.

Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong forum and sorry if it's been asked before, I did search the forums before posting but found nothing on this (on here or any other forum)

Cheers
Jon

Try this:
Press VOL_UP + HOME and then, with them still pressed, press and hold POWER. Keep all three depressed and after the Samsung/GT-i9100 splash screens the recovery menu should appear. Now you can relax. :)

Welcome to Android Forums btw. ;)

Hi Slug, and thank you for the very speedy reply!

Unfortunately, I've tried this before (and again now just in case) and still it just boots the phone as normal, still haven't managed to see this illusive boot screen using any combination of Volume+Home+Power... Driving me crazy!!

Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks again for your help :)

Wow, that's messed up.... I've never heard of that not working before.

The only thing I can think of right now is to d/l and install Odin on a PC, and then use that to reflash the device's firmware.
