Galaxy S2 gt-i9100G: All things root

First of all, I'd like to say hello to everyone at Android Forums. I've already found lots of very useful information here.

My question relates to the i9100G for certain, since I have already rooted the phone.

I want to flash this ROM: [ROM][19100G] KL3 GaLaXyRom v4.1

I also want to change the CSC from China only, to mutli-CSC. Will this ROM work on my phone, and where can I find the multi-CSC tar file for the i9100G? Or will flashing this ROM give me multi-CSC?

Many thanks,
Gimzo

Welcome to the forum gimzo and thanks for joining.

There shouldn't be any need to change your csc as the ROM will debrand your phone from the Chinese carrier.

I have another small question. Is it possible to set the i9100G to use the US CSC? I currently have it set to the Korean CSC and that works very well. However, I really want to access the Amazon market as well. Is this possible, and how would I go about doing that?

Thanks,
gimzo

Hi All

I have I9100G. When i play music my mobile gets crashed. I have to restart my phone again to use it. It happens only when i play music. I had tried moving songs to internal memory and play it. Still it occurs. Could someone help me coz its frustrating that i couldn't hear songs in mobile. It crashes randomly.

Android Version : 2.3.6
Baseband Version : I9100GDDKL1
Kernel Version : 2.6.35.7
Build number : XWLA1.

Could some one help me in this issue, please.

Thanks, ShotGun. Sadly, that did not work. I used the market enabler, but I cannot access the Amazon Android Market from within China. It simply says that my location is not supported. Which it is not. I'm trying to get my phone to think I'm in the U.S. I did try to access the store through DroidVPN, but that didn't work, either. I also get a simliar problem buying applications via the Google market. I can download free applications from Google, but cannot buy any paid applications. I've tried wiping the cache / Dalvik and that did nothing.

Does any one know of a way to get around this issue?

Many thanks,
gimzo

Welcome to the forum hiro123 and thanks for joining.

I would root using the superatmos kernel. I can't really say which of the roms is the best as I don't have the G so haven't tried them. I'd suggest reading through the xda links and see what other users think.

owh, thanks. im a completely noob here @@ i saw many of ur previous replies and found quite a number of links to rooting the phone. but i dunno which one should i use. would u mine giving me a link, its okay for me if ur busy @@

If you follow these steps you should be fine.
1. Instal kies on your PC from here
Kies Samsung
2. Download Odin and instal it on your PC from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=611625&d=1306787405
3. Download the kernel to your PC from here
[Kernel][I9100G][31/3/2012] Lucifr Kernel 1.5 - xda-developers
You need the tar version.
4. Make sure you don't have kies running in the background on your PC and then open Odin.
5. Tick next to where it says pda, then click on pda and insert the kernel tar you downloaded.
6. Do not tick or untick anything else
7. Turn off your phone, then hold volume down, power and menu until your phone boots. You will see a screen asking if you want to continue into download mode. Press volume up to continue.
8. Attach your phone to your PC with the USB cable while still in download mode.
9. Press start and wait for a minute or two until your phone reboots.
10. You are now rooted.

okay.. i have rooted now.. but.. when i open CWM.. it says " this version of CWM manager should be used with CF-Root v5.0 or newer. It appears you are running a different kernel. various features have been disabled... "

what im doing now is..

1) connected to wifi
2) enable usb debugging
3) hold volume down,menu,power button
4) screen boots in downloading mode, press volume up
5) run odin
6) check pda box and click pda and choose Lucifr_1.5uv
7) did NOT check or uncheck any other boxes..
8) connect phone to pc with usb cable
9) press start
10) pass!

Nope, nothing changed..

1) phone restart with yellow triangle icon ( as every rooted phone does )
2) kernel version shows 2.6.35.7-g4f27b76-dirty-Lucifr-1.5uv root@hanny-laptop#1
3) cwm says the samething
4) cwm shows taht kernel version is unknown
5) cant use either titanium backup or rootcheck

That all seems OK.

I do not, as I have mentioned, own the "G" variant and so therefore cannot replicate your actions.

I notice that you have re-posted your dilemma in the "G", thread. So hopefully, someone can advise you further.

okay.. finally rooted.. how do i remove the triangle icon? i mean.. i dunno what it means by flashing stock kernel.. where do i get it?

g-version here...

Hi all,

just moved to china and here bought my first android (i9100G) *noobie*. Some hours later, i figured out that the chinese version is very limited (no android market, google accounts, ...) . Now I'm looking for a way to install other ROMs to my phone.

My question is, could someone please advice me which kernel i could use for that?
