Help Galaxy s2 not reading Google calendar

nottstu

Newbie
My Samsung Galaxy S2 has suddenly lost it's ability to read my default Google calendar.
If I log on to the calendar via web browser it works fine but the native app and other calendar apps I use have not data from my default calendar - thoug they do have the data from my holidays and 'work' calendar.
I've checked, unchecked and re-checked in the 'select calendars' option but no change in the situation.
Being afraid to re-sync in case it wipes all my data I've temporarily disabled syncing altogether.
Was that the right thing to do?
What might be the cause and cure?
I think this problem arose after I did a search with the app 'power search', which did a brilliant job of searching all manner of places including my google calendar, to which I gave it access rights, but I'm not prepared to definitely blame it as I've only a vague idea about when the problem started.
I tried the sugoestion of installing a new calendar app to see if starting afresh would work but it didn't.
Also, I've re-entered my password (I think) to be sure that's not the problem.
Any suggestions for the way forward?
Cheers

Well here's the oddest thing:

I did try rebooting thanks. That was job two after closing and re-opening the calendar app (Pimlical, which I heartily reccommend by the way, but note that aln my woes described above and here apply to the native android calendar app too - that was the first thing I checked) but I didn't mention it as that seemed something you could take as read.

Anyway, I proceeded with confidence, thank you Slug, to do a forced sync but it made no difference.

Then I selected a different google calendar inethe 'select calendars' dialogue, and to my surprise and puzzlement there on returning to the calendar display, was all my previously missing data.

So I begin to wonder whether all along my data was going into a different calendar than I'd thought so I went back and de-selected my alternative google calendar but on returning to the display view guess what - all previously missing data still on show.

It's as if selecting the alternative calendar gave the thing a boot in the bum that woke it up to the reality of who's in charge around here.
Well I like to think I'm in charge.

So what do you make of all that?
I can't understand it.
Maybe a bug I disturbed.
Just hope it doesn't happel again.

Thanks for your efforts to help.
Cheers.

It's possible. i tried running with two calendars created under my account (one for work, one for personal) but had issues. Calendars created by others and shared.... no problem.

So what do you make of all that?

A disturbance in The Force, or a blip in the Space/Time Continuim.... who knows? The mysteries of Google continue to evade explanation. :)

The important thing is that normality has been restored. Glad we were able to (sort of) help.

Ahhh. The space-time continuum - of course I should have thought of that.
Straight for the sonic screwdriver next time.

Give my love to nessie.
