Galaxy S2 or Iphone 4s?

I want to buy an new good phone. Confused bw Galaxy S2 and iPhone 4S. Galaxy has bigger display, but iPhone 4S has higher resolution.
The phone I am using now is Samsung Galaxy Ace - s5830 - not a very good phone - bad resolution, video cam is not good, very less phone memory, low battery back up and it is not good for playing HD games. Galaxy S2 seems like a bigger Galaxy Ace - same design. I want some opinion from Galaxy S2 users :)

iPhone is costlier, but the cell operator gives an option to pay in installments.I think it is difficult to change the operator in iPhone, but in Galaxy any SIM card can be used.
Is there any Siri like application in Galaxy S2? If no, is there any chance to get it in future.
What are the advantages of Galaxy S2 over iPhone 4S?

My wife has galaxy ace, and you 're right, it's rubbish. Don't think it of a mini s2 because they are worlds apart. I watch movies and tv on phone and don't see any issue with the picture quality duo the resolution is not an issue for me.

Have not used an iphone personally, but put it this way I now know at least 3 iphone users that want to ditch phone for s2, 1 friend already has. I have never met a s2 user that wants to ditch in favour of an iphone.

Oh, and like you say iphone is more expensive to buy, to insure and to claim on insurance, and it does less than the s2! Fairly simple decision really.

My brother went back to iPhone 4s after a HTC. I had a go with it yesterday ( I have a S2)

First thing, it feels heavy and brittle. You know there will be major damage if one drops it. Glass both sides

Screen, felt blurry compared to the S2. Small

As for the actual phone, iOS is fast and snappy but looks and feels so old! Looks just like my old 3GS!. Still no equalizer on the music player and to change the preset, you have to exit the play and go into settings et, etc. Still not very user friendly.

Siri worked very well, better that the voice apps ive tried on my S2.

For a safe phone to use "as is" go for a iphone. They do just work, no problems. Its just a bit boring?

If you want to have fun with your phone, personalize it, etc, go for a S2. It's ligher and has really good screen.

I'm still playing around a lot with my phone after 3 months. When I had my iphone, it was just used by my kids to play Angry Birds after I got home from work.

Exactly right! I just wen from iPhone 3GS to Galaxy S2 and becomes clear from the start what the diferences are and they are really not much about the technical stuff.

You choose iPhone if you just want it to work, take care of itself and not include yourself in most of the decisions taken. Install iTunes (enter VISA number!) and follow the road Apple puts ahead of you. The OS is very user friendly and very well though out for supporting the daily use.

You choose the S2 when you are done with Apple & iTunes and want to follow your own way of doing things. You accept that stuff is not as easy and straight forward and you spend a little time getting the thing to work as you want it to work while enjoying the 'no boundaries' setup the system has. You have a file manager, SD card for your data, Flash for your web etc. etc. and you can choose to use Kies (if you can get it to work!) or not.

S2 is not as finished a product as the iPhones but it's getting there and I am not going back to the locked Apple world again.

best regards

i couldn't have a mobile phone without widgets. iphone UI is just so boring ( row of icons) really dated.

i choose galaxy s2 :)

I'm trying to not being sarcastic, but really, what do you expect when you ask this question at Galaxy S2 forum section...?

I mean, I personally vouch for S2 as well

But this is how it normally goes down:
More easiness on using + more apps -> iPhone
More functionality on the phone -> Android, which in this case, SGS2

SGS2 still beats IP4s.

SGS2 is customizable. Screen is bigger. Memory is larger. Up to 64GB SD card can be used. Widgets. Using Go Launcher with MultiLIve wallpaper. Amazing.

IP4s just have better store and better resolution meaning reading text is clearer. About the only things I can think off.

I don't bother with Siri or Voice Commands really because for me, its too much of a gimmick. I can do things faster without it.

Have a look at the website below.

So go get the SGS2. Regardless of niggling issues (which I am sure the IP4s will have its own), its still a top top phone. Until IP5 or SGS3 comes out.

I feel the Iphone is just way to boring. I think they do so well is because the name Iphone is so big and people just go for the default. Its like McDonalds everyone knows them but do they really have the best burgers out there ? I also don't see how the Iphone is so much easier to run. I hate Itunes it takes forever to figure it out. And other then that not much is different between operation. The GS2 is faster had way better Navigation thinner and I feel a better screen. And for voice apps Vlingo does the job.

My wife owns the iPhone 4s. I own a Galaxy S2. They are both amazing devices that do what they're supposed to do. What it boils down to are, what's more important for you? Each device has numerous strengths and few major weaknesses. For some, it may be as simple as the size and form factor. For other it's the tight iTunes integration (iPhone) or the built-in free navigation (Galaxy).

For the IP4s to come close to SGS2 in terms of customization, you need to jailbreak. Do it right, then you can have wall papers, ringtones etc. Still won't change the fact no SD card but everything else is nearly there.

But SGS2 can do all of that without that hassle.

Cheers

One of my friend said Galaxy Ace and S2 have the same interface, there is no point in buying a similar phone and go for iPhone. I'm totally confused.

How is Galaxy S2's internal memory and battery backup compared to Galaxy Ace?

Speaking as somone whos owned an iPhone4 for ages and has only just in the past few weeks swapped to a Samsung Galaxy S2 I would say...I don't know.

I'm loving so much about the Samsung, and I'm getting to grips with the android interface. I really like the amount of customisiation you can have as opposed to the iPhone and I'm not really missing any of my old apps yet.

My biggest (maybe only) hassle with the Samsung however is the battery. I've turned off a lot of the options available like switching off auto synch etc and dimmed my screen right down but the second I do any wifi surfing I find the battery to be draining like 1% every few minutes.
I'm defianetly not getting through the day without charging after moderate use.

I know you pay a price for the fantastic looking screen, but for me I need to know the phone will see me through the day barring heavy use.
Whats the point in having an amazing phone if I have to switch everything off in case I want to make a call later on?
Also, when using sat nav even with it plugged into a car charger it consumes more power than it charges and so it's never going to last a long journey. I know this will be because of the screen size, but sat nav is something I use a lot with my job.

My iphone allowed me to charge every second day, although admittedly not so much after the ios 5 update, and I've been reading the horror stories some people are having with the 4s battery.

At the moment I'm 50/50 on the phone switch. I'm going to perservere with the Samsung but unless I manage to eek some more battery life out of it, I can see me making the jump back in the future.

By the way, I'm a long way from being an apple fanboy or anything, I do really want to love this phone.

I haven't tried rooting it yet which is my next port of call.

You are right. I used one galaxy S2 of my friend 2day. It is far far better than Galaxy Ace. It's completely different. Awesome display. The similarity with is only in the design! Galaxy S2 looks like a min tablet!

firstly, u cant compare the galaxy ace and the SGS2. secondly, posting on the SGS2 forum, ur not gonna get a lot of votes for the iphone 4

if u like wat iOS can do, go for the iphone.. its a great phone. however, if u like the options that android offers, the SGS2 is a great phone too, superior in my mind to the iphone..

if u really think about it, ur hardly ever gonna be using siri, its just a gimmick. ur just gonna use it to show friends, and just play around for the first week. however, there are some apps being developed for android that do similar stuff.. voice actions, iris.. etc.. give it time, it'll be as good :)

In Future I dont know but right now Iris is just horrible. It just failes to understand what you say, even if it does it does not act accordingly. It is not match to Siri at the moment !

voice actions is much better. and yeah, in future.. voice actions (third party, not the google one, search on the market) is pretty close to siri, i think.. the interface needs to improve, and stuff.. but yeah.. give it time. i doubt anyone's gonna buy a phone just for Siri, right? actually, some would :D but i dont think thats smart

Infact you have one in me :D I at one point of time, infact I am still seriously considering of buying the iPhone 4S beacuse I am completely blown away and totally spell bound on what Siri can do !!

You forget to mention that you can read off a regular thumbdrive with just a cable. In that sense, the 'memory' is actually more than 64GB.

Actually SGS2 can use SD card whereas IPhones can't. That's what I meant. As for memory being larger, was talking about the RAM. Still beat IP4s. As for internal memory, the IP4s have 32GB and even 64GB so it certainly can match, but with an SD card, and being interchangeable, you could say SGS2 have unlimited memory :D but that's just plain foolish. Won't you say?

Siri is very impressive if you've ever used voice recognition before, it's streets ahead of everything, but how useful it is on a phone I don't know; I suppose when driving it could be useful to issue commands to the phone but to be honest vlingo on the S2 does that pretty well too. The cutting-edge language parsing and semantic interpreting that Siri can do seems a bit useless in that scenario. I can imagine it could be useful when you're walking / commuting, but then it may be too noisy to make use of it. The 4S is too expensive for just a Talkie Toaster gimmick.

But yeah, Siri is definitely something unique at the moment, and it's impressive, but I don't know how valuable it is.

aS2, is the best.

Siri is an awesome feature introduced by Apple.
But s00ner or later something like that will be ported to android.

Moreover the look & feel of iOS, has now become sluggish & outdated.
Same old arrangement of icons in a grid thats it.
Even now they have copied Notification Bar from Samsung & iOS Messenger from BlackBerry.

Moreover u are in a tightly closed environment with iOS, without any customization without modding.
& u have to be depended on iTUNEs all the tiime

GALAXY S2 IS ALWAYS BETTER THEN iPhone 4S
