Help Galaxy S2 Wifi problem

I recently got myself the Samsung Galaxy S2 and I love it. But like anything new there is always something that "Murphy" will get his horrible little hands on to intentionally drive you crazy. I want to connect my Galaxy to my laptop via wifi with the intention of using the laptop internet connection. Please can someone give me a detailed explanation, including all settings, to enable me to achieve this and maintain my sanity.

Hang on matey , I'll be right with you. Are you referring to wireless tethering?

Settings>Wireless and network>Tethering and portable hotspot> portable wi-fi hotspot settings> configure settings (as if it were a regular router. )

Android doesn't support ad-hoc wireless networking due to security concerns. If the laptop is running Windows 7 you can set it up as a 'virtual AP' by following these instructions.

Can u consult me that...my samsung s2 when wirelessly tethering sharing with another phone ie.Sony Ericsson x10..when i turn it own the tethering wireless..my device hang everytime..and i need to take out the battery out and restart agn..

pls help me solve the matter.
