Why in the world would you NOT get insurance?

Cause I am cheap like that.. and I do not have a habit of breaking phones.. literally had my last one for 3 years and the one before.. for... 2.. only upgraded to get a newer model..Plus..

I did the math based upon the money I save.. I could make the cost of the phone in a much shorter time... and.. if it did get lost after 1 year or.... 7 months.. compared to the rate I used to pay with sprint then I can use that money for a new phone.. or upgrade again... or soak up all the profit..

S3 Deductible = $250(speculation) + $5/mo insurance fee = 50 Months(over 4 years) before you hit the cost of a 2nd phone.

Yes, but my math is compared to my current plan with sprint.. that is not android.. 1000 minutes at 50 per line..not including taxes fess etc.. with come to 110...ill be doing.. 85 with metro.. having the GS3 on the 55 Unilmited plan.. with 2 phones.. that's saving 25 per month for me.. I can make up the cost in 1.6677... on years worth in time.. just in time to upgrade to any new phone at that time.. and not paying the insurance or deductible if the deed happens.. I do not live an extreme life style.. so it makes no sense for me.. to each his own.. I might consider it.. dunno.

Adding insurance to the GS3 will still save you $20/mo compared to your old plan. And give you $480 towards a new phone if nothing happens in 2 years. All it takes is a thief or a toilet drop. I've only had my phone stolen once in the last 10 years and never damaged one. But that 1 theft hurt, and inspired me to always have insurance. Hopefully your plan works out for you though. Good luck.

Just wondering the esteem community thoughts on this. I was set on buying the s3 but I'm not sure if its gonna be a 500 dollar difference.

I'd agree with this comment, I've been burned once and also saved once. Insurance is well worth it IMO.

Soo......anyone know the record for the most posts on a single thread on this site? Haha

The Galaxy Nexus pre release thread was pretty intense, not sure how many responses it got, but it was over 50,000 anyway. The Gnex Watering Hole in the Lounge currently has just over 22,000. The SGS3 Watering Hole has about 14,000. There's also the Longest Thread at about 44K. :)

Oh, whilst I'm here, I removed a couple of posts. Please remember we are a family friendly, English speaking forum. :)

Thank you.

Agreed. And it's doubtful the deductible would be that high but I really dont know. Guess you could base the price off the deductible for the lighttray maybe.

Regardless, I dont care how careful a person is all it takes is that one drop that will send your S3 into phone heaven. Plus, after a year or so, if your phone is beat to all hell or suddendly doesn't turn on, well guess what? You can get another one. At half the price you would pay for a new one.

You say your cheap but yet your willing to shell out over 500 bucks for a cell phone? lol. I dont care if you lived in house made of bubble wrap, you dont have to drop the phone to tear it up. ;)

dont know release still but these are real specs...probably knew this already

$499.00

4.8” super AMOLED display
1.5GHz dual-core processor and
2GB RAM
8 MP camera with LED flash and
1080p HD video recording

IMO, one does have to pay attention to the nitty gritty of the insurance situation for Your Particular phone.

My DX had been out quite awhile when I got it, I didn't get insurance for it. After a year I did break the screen but got another DX like new for $100. It's now almost 2 years since I got the phone and at $100 spent over that time and having 2 DXs that work, I'm ahead of the insurance game.

I DO think it's Completely Insane for example, to have insurance on the Motion. Why? You can get a brand new, not refurb phone for 2x just one year's insurance coverage. (To me, that's a not often mentioned Benefit of the Motion, you save about $70 a year insurance owning one. Or, you Should Save that anyway...)

OTOH, for a $500+ phone to me it's a Duh, no brainer to carry insurance at least for the first 2 years you own the phone.

Depends on how you look at it. I keep insurance on my phone for a different reason.

I had a Samsung galaxy indulge. Hated the phone! When it finally died I called in the insurance claim to asurion. Because the indulge had been discontinued, I got to take my pick of better phones (choice between galaxy attain, esteem and connect). Many people have had this happen for them.

So you could look at it as an investment for an upgrade lol. When the motion gets discontinued ill put in a claim, pay $39 bucks and get an upgraded phone.

Besides, insurance makes sense for me. I let my 2 year old play with my phone when he's whining and we are out (kids games and movies). So my phones are always in danger of being destroyed when he decides to throw it. ;-)

Better get insurance guys you would be paying 5 dollar more each month but when you think about it that 5 dollar could of been thrown away anyway so lets all take insurance and not regret it I can assure you fixing this phone digitizer and stuff is almost impossible without buying the whole assembly which cost almost 200. Plus any losers can steal the phone anytime it happens to the best of us. So don't forget the insurance my childs.

FYI, the S3 IS on the current Metro 'showance page.

Did you know it's deductible is $129?

That with one year's 'showance is (for all intents and purposes) $200.

That's ripping up on 1/2 the price of a whole new phone.

Give it to me in much simpler words. What does this mean? Deductible from what? wtf is Showance? etc...
