Galaxy S3 Watering Hole

Same here

If the S5 doesn't impress, the way I see it I have two options. 1) hold out another year for the S6 and stick with the S3 until then, provided the battery doesn't get too wonky. Or, 2) get the S5 anyway, root and ROM it to get rid of the Sammy bloat.

The S6 should be long enough to finally WOW me... I'm not to impressed with the itsy bitsy things they are throwing out there in order to get me to switch! .

So, there was a time when I was seriously thinking about trying out the iPhone. You know, something different. I mean, I have been an Android user since the G1. The iPad mini, well, its kind of meh, but I figured it would be interesting to tinker with due to its lowish price. I figured I would jailbreak it too, it was an experiment, but as something that stayed at home most of the time, and I suspected in order to try out iOS on a larger scale, day to day use, I would need an iPhone. So, I was seriously thinking about taking a break (kitkat pun!? :p) from android and try the other and I did not like, I would just pass the device to my sister.

Well, being bored today, I decided I would try out iOS7 on my iPad mini and get rid of jailbreak since it did not seem like anything special anyway. Being jailbroken, I would need to back my stuff up, and restore the device. Before doing this, I would need to update my MPB. So, I did this, taking about a half hour. Since firmware and such was updated.

Before doing this however, I backed up my iPad mini to my MBP. After this was done, the issues started. I was told I had purchases on my iPad that I would need to buy again if I restored the device. So, I decided to update my computer.

Well, this did not help, after updates, I plugged my device in, clicked on the restore button, and was told I would need to buy some things again if I did not back up. I told it to back up. It gave an error:
"
There was a problem downloading the software for the iPad "Name of iPad" You do not have permission to access the requested resource"

So, fine. I hit restore again told it to forego the backup and got the same error.
Fail.

I suspect it would fail trying to update from the device itself, but the iPad tells me I have a system update available, but when I click on it, it just sits there spinning.

"It just works."

Um, yeah. I suppose. I seem to be having all the luck with tinkering with my Devices :o

Perhaps my next experiment would be to see if I can go without root on my next device :)

I'm glad i don't have that tinkering urge , i just know if i tried that something bad is bound to happen ( knowing that i don't know what i'm doing ) :D

Hey... I was put on a budget! Plin kinda got a bit peeved at my software (for my machine) purchase and then I "needed" a new computer to run the software so it could talk to my sewing machine better... I now have a measly budget to spend on my hobby. So, I got smart and put my machine to work for me. Scrub labels amongst the docs have been actually pretty lucrative. So, my measly little quilt show budget is now just under $700 !
Hey, where there's a will.... lol
That'll show him!

Never underestimate the will of a woman!
