Galaxy S5 Prime

"Targeting Europe and North America" sounded suspicious: traditionally Samsung have released the highest spec versions in their home market (sometimes exclusively).

Like Bread, I'll believe when there's something more solid.

So much on the horizon. How do you chose when to buy????

you don't you just stick your head in the sand and wait for the sweet release of death.

It feels funny when S5 owners get pissed off after reading this news and completely deny its existence (not talking about this forum in particular)

The only reason I am waiting for prime is because of the Exynos 5430 its 20nm according to the info we have and features HEVC decoder

There are 3 projects going on with Exynos SoCs :

All three are based on the 5430 (very high clock 5422 basically, default drivers at 2GHz A15, 1.5GHz A7, 600Mhz gpu. Voltages still point to same 28nm process. The 5422 and 5430 have new r4p0 Mali silicon. The 5430 has a HEVC decoder).

A3W5: something weird.
KQ: the S5 is K so this should be related to it.
S: something weird again.

The A3W5 comes in Wi-Fi, 3G and LTE (both Qualcomm) and an FHD or QHD 5.2" screen.

The KQ comes in LTE with an Intel XMM7260 or a Samsung Shannon 300 (Korea) and either an FHD or QHD 5.2" screen.

The S same as KQ but also in 3G : slte, s3g.

Have the feeling the KQ is the S5 prime. All models are ether EUR OPEN or KOR, so might have same global model distribution as the S3.

The 5430 comes with something called ARM intelligent power allocation, basically very fine grained power and TDP tracking.
It puts the A15 at 1.65W per core and A7 at 250mW. The GPU at 3.1W. Total power is limited through IPA at 3.5W.

Later he said it is most probably on 20nm

You can look at the source code for yourself :

this is not prime version.

this name was born when sammobile and eldar informed via their trusted sourecs and confirmed by their insiders that galaxy s5 will be wqhd, snapragon 805 3gb device- none of witch came to be true.

samsung has a great history of releasing better versions of their flagships in korea and only for korea since galaxy s1 - this speial versions always has better specs sometimes better displays - that does not make those korean version premium tho.

so samsung ceo was stating the obvious, there will not be a premium version of galaxy s5

Yeah they do have a long history of that...

But what are those devices with E5430 (namely KQ,etc.)
K stands for S5 right?
What about them ?

I was on the phone with a verizon support person and she informed me that she is also waiting the S5 Prime and she had seen it and played with it, and that she is also waiting to purchase it. I didn't push for more information but Verizon is just trying to push the S5 and get there stock down which is why it may be released at the near and round July is my hunch. Verizon always likes to do sales around that time.

Now G3 is official and it doesn't have snapdragon 805, just 801 like S5, M8. Kind of disappointing.

I wonder if and when S5 prime would hit US?
