Galaxy SII for VM already obsolete?

First before you take this as bashing your pride and joy, I own a Motorola Triumph. You can't hope to suck like me! I have to swap batteries all day long and delete .alog files once a week.
THAT SAID I have had my eye on the Samsung and today was the last day Radio Shack had it for 279, counting my pocket change I was close. LO and behold I notice their trade in program, oh boy! Motorola Triumph?

"We'll recycle it for you!" might as well kick me when I'm down. Okay. Hey just out of curiousity, how about a what if on the Samsung Galaxy S2 for VM?

RadioShack - Trade-In Program

(should have gone right to the page, if not reload it)

That's right they don't want it, it's not worth a dime. What gives with THAT?

Needless to say I put my silver back in the drawer.

There are many lesser phones from other carriers they pay good money for and if you have the cheaper iphone that's $350, they offer you (as much as) $140!

I'm wondering if they know something we don't, like is it relying on a system that's being phased out but unannounced yet... maybe VM is about to come out with a new lineup they have an inside track on and expect a deluge? Just seems weird VM's premiere phone is non gratis for trades.

That is weird that you get nothing for the S2, they have released a couple of phones this year but nothing (IMHO) that is earth shattering so they may be getting ready to drop the hammer on some higher end phones.

I doubt it's obsolete.. the Motorola Triumph isn't even for sell anymore and there is still active development on it :D

The S2 is one of the best phones available for Virgin Mobile.. that is until the new summer phones are announced ;)

I see them giving credit with the Sprint version, and see no reference at all to the VM versions. I wouldn't expect trade-ins on a phone they're still selling as new, especially when VM hasn't really released anything to make it obsolete. There really shouldn't be anyone trading in the VM SII yet. It's not obsolete and worth little to nothing -- it's the opposite. It's still worth too much.

The Sprint and VM versions are identical except for the software, the reason you won't find a trade in value for Virgin is because there's so few of them comparatively, Sprint sold at least 50 times as many compared to Virgin, therefore the market for your version is almost non existent.
