Help Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Not Working

Hello! I'm new here. I've been reading the posts here to try and fix my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, but my husband and I haven't been able to fix it. I contacted Samsung customer support because I am at my wit's end and they believe it's a hardware issue, but I don't know for sure. I'm really hoping someone can help.

This started last Thursday. I unplugged it from the charger and headed to work. When I pulled it out I noticed it was warm and stuck on the boot screen with the black background and the words "Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus". Obviously I tried shutting it off, but it wouldn't shut off. It would act like it was going to, but it would immediately re-boot and stay on that screen. We tried the factory reset and that didn't work; we have gotten an error several times when trying to do the factory reset: E:Format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p9

My husband has been trying different suggestions, but nothing has worked. Here's what he has tried and nothing has worked:

-Wipe/Factory reset

-Downloaded the .md5 stock firmware file for Ice Cream Sandwich for the P6210, and downloaded the .pit particial file for the p6211. Using those two files along with odin 3v185 i attempted to re-partition and reinstall the factory default for ICS the steps then said to return to the restore menu and wipe/factory reset.

I don't know what to do or how to fix it. It's only 3 years old which makes me even more grumpy about this whole thing. And I guess if no one has any other suggestions that we could try, I'm at the crossroads of whether to send it into Samsung to have them fix it or buy a new one... I really appreciate your help.

Thanks!

Evidently there's a bad block in memory somewhere - meaning that Samsung was right (which is rare). The only "fix" is hardware replacement. (I don't know the build environment of the device, so whether a memory module has to be replaced or the whole motherboard has to be swapped out would only be guesswork on my part.)

Your best bet is to bring it to a Best Buy that has a Samsung desk, ask if they can get a really rough estimate on the repair cost (while you wait - otherwise you could just as well send it to Samsung), then decide whether to fix or replace it.

Face it - electronic devices DO sometimes fail. (which is why every single important file on any electronic device should be backed up to at least 2 different destinations.)

Thank you for your help. When I spoke with Samsung today they said it would be $99 for a hardware fix. I'm guessing a Samsung desk at a Best Buy will probably tell me the same price, right? Everything on the device is backed up as far as I can remember. I guess now I just have to decide... Get it fixed or get a new one. Thanks again!

This happened to my Galaxy S3. I was told by Samsung support and another local repair shop that my phone was dead and about as much use as a paperweight. I was then informed about a company called phoneland (I live in England I'm not sure if they exist where you are) and they told me that it was suffering from SDS (Sudden Death Syndrome) I posted it off to them freepost and it was back with me in a week as good as new.
