Gallery - tags?

coming from the N900* i'm used to my photos having a tag option, so i can then filter my photos by tags to get the relevant ones. I was surprised to see today after importing 463 images that this doesn't seem to be possible, so i then had to put them all into folders on the laptop and put them back on the phone.
Am i missing a trick here? If there is a way to tag photos i'd love to know how. Failing that, is there a way to move an image to another folder from gallery without going through My Files?

Also, i've transferred my music across (it doesn't recognise all of it but that's something for another day i guess... (actually it looks like much of it is under 'unknown' which i gather is a bug regarding m4a format?)) but now my gallery is loaded full of album art. Is it stored in another location too so if i delete it from the gallery it still shows up in the media player or must it stay there? The N900 put artwork in a hidden folder so that it didn't appear in the gallery but did in the media player, is there a similar setup on Android? I'm one of those people who likes things organised and it'll drive me crazy having to scroll through countless albums of artwork to find a photo or video.

*if anyone else came from the N900 to the SGS2, any advice on getting SMS across?

I must say, it drives me mad to find all sorts of random images stored on the phone gallery.
I'm a bit anal about keeping my gallery pristine, and to find images taken from some app I've downloaded, of movie I've put on the phone etc is really annoying.

Is there a way to sort it out though?

It does, just use the share option like you would in the regular gallery (you do need to have the Facebook and Twitter Android apps installed too though). I use it for sharing to each of those sites.

Its probably the most popular replacement gallery app available.

ok thanks, just downloaded it and have a question - when i click 'hide' on an album it says that other gallery or player apps will not see the folder. Does this mean the media player will not find the artwork too?

Rather than hiding folders I just went into settings and chose the folders I wanted included, so I don't know the answer to that question, but I think its better to simply select the ones you want included (no potential for unintended side effects).

Hmm, sounds good but then i won't want to remember to include any new folders too. Instead i just excluded an album and it said you can exclude the parent directory, so i hid the 'music' directory and now i'm just left with my actual photos. Joy!

Pity that the stock one doesn't have that feature because i do really like the cool iris effect.

ok well i'm back with this issue. Quickpic is all well and good but i do prefer the standard one. So is there any way at all to hide photos, or if i delete them from the gallery will they remain in the music player cache for instance?

Also, relating to pictures, the stock picture frame widget that comes with the SGS2, i really like it but now my photos are in folders it appears i can only select photos from one folder to display. Is that really the case? And if so, can anyone recommend a similar widget that's either free or very cheap that can display photos from multiple folders?

Embed the album art in the songs, they won't show in the media player.

For other folders at a text file called nomedia in the folder and it won't show in the standard gallery app.

How do you embed them?
I deleted all the album art from the gallery and they still show in the media player, i unmounted the SD card then remounted so it rescanned and it found them all.

You can embed them with a program like mp3tag on your desktop. I believe there is an application called Media Fix in the Market that can also fix tags.

I already have media fix to sort the .m4a format problem out. So far deleting them from the gallery hasn't been an issue so i'll cross my fingers it stays that way
