Root GAOSP Public BETA 2 released

Ouch! The news about no-camera is a deal-breaker for me. But out of curiosity, what speeds are you folks running the phone, when you say it becomes responsive after usage? Are you overclocking it to 710Mhz or running it at the default 500Mhz?

yea.. I've been patiently waiting for the camera to get fixed but now I can't wait! i hope they are able to fix it :S

oNE OF big advantages of Galaxy was 5mp camera wit flash. Without this, whole project is pointless, I'm afraid

@porga i see you using 1.6.3.3 . wanted to know whats the lock screen like? the slide one? or u have to use the button?

Yes, it is true!

But you will have some problems if you install ADW from Market
(android.phone crash, phone is too slow...)

If you have a Galaxy, install DarkSense with ADW included from here:

http://www.androidcodex.com/files/i...kSense2.0/&file=DarkSense2.0_ADW-Standard.zip

Instructions:
------------

- put DarkSense2.0_ADW-Standard.zip to root of internal sd card

- Boot in Recovery Mode
- fix the permissions
- Use the "apply any zip" option and choose the Theme.
- Finished!

...and everything works fine! :-)

This does seem faster than Market ADW and it looks nice too. What was changed with this release vs regular ADW?

Handsfree (SE HBH-PV703) is correctly paired and connected to phone audio.

On accepting an incoming call, the screen shows the audio connected to bluetooth, but the sound stays on the phone. Noise is heard on the bluetooth handsfree, and it's blinking light shows an active connection to the phone.

Anyone else having this problem ?

Well, I've sadly had to go back to Galaxo. Was loving GAOSP, but it started to take an age to open up apps, core ones like messaging and emails :( Then I discovered I couldn't get MMS messages anymore :( Great work though from Drakaz and co. and I cant wait to see more :)
So back to good old Galaxo (for now).

I don't think I could return to Galax0. Beta 2 is pretty fast and responsive, especially after I turned the orientation sensor off (it was using at least 15% of CPU at all times). Few bugs have to be fixed, but all-in-all, Beta 2 is more than OK.
The experiment with JIT, however, hasn't worked well as it has slowed my phone significantly, so I had to turn it off.

I had to manually build my Bell APN. If there is one there try deleting it and rebuild as:
Name: Bell
APN: bell.pda.ca

Make sure it is saved and selected(green dot) after you build it.

Actually this is wrong, the correct settings are:

Name: Bell
APN: pda.bell.ca
Proxy: web.wireless.bell.ca
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mms.bell.ca/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy: web.wireless.bell.ca
MMS port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 610
Authentication Type: none

And then make sure it is saved and selected. Worked fine for me, after I put that in.

Well I thought I was golden. Got 3G working but no go on wifi even with the fix suggested earlier. Giving it one last try to see what happens.

Read the GAOSP issues pages as I remember there being wifi issues. The fix was either a different level of encryption or using a static IP which is easy enough to do on the phone.

Yeah, tried all the suggestions, no luck. I was surprised when static IP wouldn't work either. It's not a biggie as I'm only going to use it for a couple of days and then I'll be back to Galaxo most likely.

drakaz:
We we will fix the camera, but it's not my priority. Btw, GAOSP is not daily usable, that's why user don't use it yet.. and GAOSP BETA 3 will be a froyo beta :)

I know it might be an unanswerable question, but how long do you guess it'll be till we get a daily usable version? My contract runs out in 9 months. :p

to be honest, i find galaxo beta 2 more than acceptable for daily use.. if you can get by not having a camera....

It loads faster, i get 18 hrs+ of battery...

I do not have any of the problems people are reporting that is wrong with it, it works fine for me....

my ONLY Complaint is, the end button is the same as the lock button
