Root GB miui 2.3.5

Not sure what o with anything. You dont need to flash it.xygen has to do Its just a script. If you're s-off (wouldnt need the script otherwise) you can just paste it into /system/etc/init.d with root explorer. Not everything needs to be flashed ;)

Thanks for clarification. I got it now!

@GingaB, i know you use MIUIXJ, so was wondering how it differs from MIUI-DEV? Im having troubles at the moment with the language pack, first time ive had a problem tbh, the rom installs fine but the language pack just doesnt install. How does XJ work, do you need to flash a seperate language pack for it? Any chance you could give me links to where you got the rom from. Would be much appreciated cheers

Well they both essentially the same.. Yoo wont know the difference as they both release stock MIUI so no extra customisation involved! However applying the roms differ! With MIUIandroid you have to apply two zipped files deodexed and language pack whilst XJ adds the deodexd and language pack in 1 zipped file!

Now the reason you're experiencing problems on MIUIandroid's is due to how MIUIandroid release those language pack! So whilst they iron out the issues download XJs rom from here:

[ROM][MIUI-XJ] July 17-1.7.17 GB 2.3.4 EN-MULT+OTA+CM+Updater|D2EXT X-PART|A2SD+|D2W - xda-developers

Right cheers for the link and info. But i have a (dare i use this over used phrase) bit of a noob question. I havent partitioned my memory card or any of that stuff, not needed to, so i see there 3 versions to choose from, all mention app to sd or whatever, will any of these versions work without a partitioned memory card?

Been out of coverage for the weekend and back now and was expecting an alert from my MIUI updater - I think there is a new version but it says no updates found. anyone else got auto-update probs?

Well if you dont want to partition your card I would suggest A2SD cos it only works if you activate it via couple command lines. However if you start runnin out of internal space you can use that as an opnion but you will have to create partition on your card...

X-Part definately requires partition of card but Im not certain of D2W....

MIUI system updater is a known problem! Mine tends to auto update files but before it completes I cancel it. Very annoying!

Quick question - flashed v1.7.17 of the MIUI-XJ rom yesterday, and loving it so far. But! When I open the (new) market and click on an app/game, sometimes the "Description" section is in a foreign language - I've had German, Russian, and a couple more I don't remember/couldn't make out. I don't recall seeing this while using any other roms, am I missing a setting somewhere, is it to do with the new market, or is it just a "feature" of the MIUI rom? ;)

Cant help you there I dont use the new market. Perhaps you should pose that question on XJ's thread on XDA...

Yeah, i probably should have, but at that time of night, after a few sherbets, it didn't really occur to me... :o

But, I nosed around this forum, and found a thread from last week about the new market where others were having the same problem. I did what they did and reverted back to the old market this morning, and all seems to be ok again. :D

Cheers for that mate, installed and all went well...but...there's always a but, after about 10 of playing I noticed there was something downloading, infact I think there was about 15 small downloads in the notification bar, I let them finish (this has never happened btw, random stuff downloading) they were all in Chinese, I cleared them from notifications then rebooted, after the reboot most everything was now in Chinese, all the settings menus, the pull down, eyerything. Now I've got no idea what these things were downloading or why they were, have you any experience with this? For the time being I've restored my nandroid.

Couple of peeps have reported that problem aswell I would suggest you to alert XJ of this issue on XDA...

Cool. New market is work in progress I guess...

the language thing wasn't the only issue...it also never updated the reviews section...I constantly check reviews when it comes to apps like facebook, which are notoriously bad on some updates...and with the 'new' market...the last review was like a month an half ago...or at least 2 updates ago...

switched back to old market with a ROM change and bob's your uncle....everything working perfect again..

Im glad I didnt update I always wait for people to comment on the latest updates before deciding whether its worth it or not and so far the past 2 updates have brought nothing but problems.

its really good though BAR the isses...

it has video reviews JUST like the desktop version and the "whats new" change log is at the TOP not at the bottom of the description which saves needless scrolling when you have some long ass descriptions sometimes..

all in all the look and feel of it is really good, probably the best its been BUT the whole language issue as well as the general speed ability of it is just lacking really badly...like you said "work in progress" thats what im hoping too....although some of the sites say this is the actual release thats been leaked ahead of official launch or whatever..

we'll just have to wait an see when Google push it officially......whatever happens I still have the previous market.apk on standby incase the true official release is still slow etc

Its flattered to decieve so far and It will take alot to make me part from my beloved old blacked out market!

*resists the urge to make that bad joke from tshirts bout "I have the body of a god...shame its Buddha"*

(I know its not the same but its related dammit!) :D

After the slight hiatus with the OTA update I updated it to 1.7.8 and that's stable. It managed to make all my contacts duplicate themselves many times but apart from that no issues so far. (touch wood)

Leaving it at that for the moment though I think.

Bit of a risk taker eh :D I wont be updating until they have ironed out all the problems. Good news is this weeks update focuses on stability of the rom....
