Help GB Update: Issues/Concerns

ugh, since the update my TB has been eating the battery quicker then ever! It will be fully charged at night, then it will be dead when i wake up in the morning. When i check what is using the battery, all that shows up is:
dialer 53%
cell standby 23%
phone idle 21%
display 3%

any ideas on what might be going on or how to fix it?

First day after my phone was updated, battery was terrible going from 100% to 20% in about 8 hours. I rebooted and now it's great. Maybe the same will work for you.

thats terrible? that's fantastic for the stock battery. you cant expect 24 hrs out of the stock battery its not an extended battery. if you mean 8 hrs and not touching it all day then yea thats terrible i suggest turning off always on mobile data in the menu where u switch between 3g and 4g

No need to. Phone has been off the charger for the last 12 hrs and the battery is at 80%. As I said, battery life has been much better since rebooting after the update.

if u tick it off ur phone wont use data when ur not using the phone. very helpful for those without unlimited. i'd still tick it off even if ur battery got better. why use data when ur not using the phone? apps that use data in background will still update btw that's why theres that extra option.

Perhaps you should direct your suggestions to zombiegirl since she is the one with the battery drain. I'm sure she would appreciate it.

Now after the firmware update I'm having new problems, Launcher Pro doesn't want to work after I restart my phone, it take a few extra restarts to get that working again and I'm still having the data loss issue... I'm getting pretty fed up with this now. Hopefully a call to Verizon can solve my issue, or atleast get me a replacement.

Very weird. I've NEVER seen the screen being lowest. I mean, that's almost as if you picked up the phone from the charger, made a call, held it to your ear with the screen off for like, 3 hours, and then checked. That's just weird.

What apps do you currently have that might affect that? Do you use the stock dialer / contacts, etc? Or something like Go Dialer? something is definately out of whack. Also, what steps have you tried so far? reboots, battery pulls, etc?

since i initially posted, the battery life seems to have gone back to how it was before the update, not great, but what i'm used to.....now the problem seems to be that the phone is disconnecting from the network. it "unchecks" the mobile network data connection box on it's own and it leaves me with just the cel coverage...i'm really confused as i love this phone, but whenever i want to use it for more then a phone call it's causing me problems!!!

i haven't "modded" anything on the phone so it's at the regular settings for just about everything...

update: it wasn't connecting at all to the network so i called verizon tech support. After an hour of them having me try two dozen things, they're sending me a new phone. We did a hard reset and the phone refused to jump on any network at all so i couldn't even complete the reset. hopefully the replacement will be better?!?

Is the crt animation when you turn off the screen suppose to be on the thunderbolt gingerbread update? I am asking because my phone auto updated to gingerbread last night and I don't have that animation.

I wish I had it.... I don't think we will get it because of the sense lock screen :( stupid useless htcsense...

I can't view my gallery now. When I select it I get a blank white screen >:/ has anyone rooted this update yet? Lol

Cool thanks. And I'm really hatin gb the longer I use it... My call history is full of "unknown" numbers even though they are clearly in my contacts

Most roms out now are GB but they are much better than the GB OTA at least IMO
I'm not surprised, my biggest grind about the phone is all the junk Verizon keeps adding, well that and HTC sense. I was waiting for gb before I rooted because it seemed to run well on the droidx and droid3

I am currently unrooted with stock. I am looking to root my phone and considering CM7 based on recommendations. Before I do that, I want to make sure I will still be able to make video calls through the gTalk app. I haven't found many conversations about that function and whether or not it works in any of the ROMs.

My previous TB was rooted using Revoltionary method. I received my new replacement phone and before I knew it I had downloaded 2.11.605.9 OTA. I have since tried every rooting method I've been able to find, but have in every try failed. Each time I get an error in adb after entering commands to copy files. Attached is my latest try and results. Does anybody know what I can do to get around this and edit the bootloader?
Thanks!

Part of the update was patching the exploit used by Revolutionary. Hence all the warnings about this.

Fortunately, it seems you can go back to 605.5 and Revolutionary will work.

If you want a stock, rooted ROM, there are a couple for the new update. Or you could try any number of the Sense based ROM's, that wont prompt the updates.

Yes, downgrade to 605.5 and then run revolutionary!
