i would like you calendar to live on 1 of my home screens but as shown in the first and 3rd picture. IE month view at the bottom and agenda at the top. When i try to change the preferences the default view is greyed out and i cant change it.
What you see on the first and third picture is the application itself, not a widget. To place something on your homescreen you need a widget, Gemini has three simple widgets, you can put one of them (or all, if you want to), to your homescreen. It will not look, however, like the Month View in the main application.
widget on the home screen, the one with the date to the left side. It shows my birthdays, events, etc. a couple of days in advance, but as soon as the day rolls around, when they would be classified as "Today's events", they disappear from the widget. I would have thought they would continue to show until the day was over.
Right now, Gemini widgets stop displaying the events, that has ended. So if you have the event, that ends at 5PM today, at 5:01PM you will not see the event anymore (in fact, you may see it, because Gemini pushes the widget updates rarely, to save battery life, but this is the idea). I thought that there is too less place on the widget to display events, that passed already.
One thing that would make this calendar even BETTER than Google Calendar would be the ability to auto-fill info from your contact list. I
Impossible?? I hope not...
As you have noticed already in your next post, Gemini has similar function (Add from book) which will be improved in the next versions. Thanks for your ideas!
I've experienced two notification problems. The first was the notifications-when-off one that everyone else was having.
I hope it is fixed in 0.9.37.
The second was an infinite-loop problem when notifications were turned off: I would tap the notification, it would go to the blank screen, I'd press "Dismiss All", and it would notify me again a few seconds later. It started when I slept through a notification, right up until my next alarm; then, instead of showing both, it only showed the first. The "Dismiss All" screen was still blank. I fooled with the Gemini Calendar preferences until it fixed itself. That left notifications on.
One question that came to my mind: did you turned off notifications in the stock calendar ? As I mentioned before, Gemini uses common calendar database, where also alarms are stored. Those alarms, like other notifications (let say SMS'es) may be served by many apps in the system. If you do not disable notifications in the stock calendar, you will have double notifications and maybe some other strange glitches.
But probably you knew that already
I've turned it off again, now that I've got 0.9.37; I'll report back later today.
Let me know.
I hope this work with notifications is moving toward per-event alarm sounds and snoozing?
Yes, it is moving there. Of course, at this stage, notifications in Gemini are not mature and this feature definitely needs improvements.
Weirdly, on-time notifications seem to be scheduled for 1 minute before the event.
That is the Android O.S. problem I spotted on some devices. If I set "0 minutes before the event" for notification, on some devices it results in double alarms. I did not figure out, how to avoid this issue, so I decided to set it 1 minute before.
