Gemini Calendar - my vision of calendar software

@IncredibleCate - Gemini should notify independently about the passing events, I am not sure what is the problem in your device. Write to me at bugs (at) mobilepaprika.com, do not forget to mention, what device you own.
Well...I haven't been able to get a true Gemini alarm sound. Either I get the stock one, or nothing. They sync just fine. Has Gemini been tested on Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) ? What specifically do you need for a bug report ?
Have you searched your Holiday calendar under Menu key in the Gemini Calendar list ?
Again, a weird problem...neither Gemini nor the Holiday Calendar show up in Calendars menu. If I try "add calendar", none is found except Facebook, Google and PC-sync, same goes for the stock calendar's menu. That's probably where the real problem lies...

Contact me at bugs (at) mobilepaprika.com, if you are ready to install some test versions of Gemini, we will find out, why Gemini does not sound.

Hi Powell, I am having the same exact issue that IncredibleCate is having. After you download your app it says to make sure that stock calender notification and alerts are set to OFF. So when I do that, there is no sound whatsoever for the Gemini app, even with the notification set to ON for the gemini app. So I did what IncredibleCate did and set the stock calendar's notification and alerts to ON, now I get an alert sound. Seems odd! I as well get the stock calendar ringtone, not the one I has set for Gemini, but it is okay because I just changed the stock calendar ringtone.

I have sent you numerous bug emails and haven't heard back so figured I would also reach out to you about this

Great calendar dude...
Thanks ;)

I also have a developer doubt... in 0:35 of your video you slide your finger over the screen without release it and when your finger is over a date a description is show in the top.

What component in android API allow slide the finger over a lot of Views and capture the focus without release the finger from the screen?
This particular gesture is served by my custom procedure, which in fact is very simple. This is rather technical topic, for developers, so if you are interested, I can give you some hints, how to do this, on PM. Just send me PM or email.

Hi Powell,

I've been away from this forum for a while, I'm not sure if my problem has been discussed before. If this is the case, please forgive me.

Anyway, I'm experiencing a very noticeable performance hit with my Gemini Calendar.

I'm using it very heavily and my google calendar now contains thousands of events, standard and recurring.

When I access the app (normally by tapping on the widget) it requires a few second to populate the month view. The same is true when switching to a previous or following month.

Furthermore, If I add a new event the input template appears instantly, but I have to wait for a few seconds before it gets usable, and this didn't happen months ago.

In generale all the app is getting sluggish and harder to use in time.

Did anyone else experienced this? Is this a known problem?
Is there anything I can check or try?

Thanks in advance.

Note: I'm using a Desire with Froyo, that runs fine. The stock calendar app runs fast and snappy.

There are some reports about performance problems, I plan to make some improvements in this matter.

How does the "location" link to "maps" work? It appears only the zip code is clickable, and when clicked it brings up the dialer. I don't really use this feature, but doesn't appear to be functioning like it should.

Love everything about this calendar! Thank you!

I'm trying to edit a single event to change it to a recurring event, but I can't work out how to do this. Can someone help?

I'm trying out Gemini because Google Calendar was missing some things. Gemini fixed one of them, but I can't figure out whether it can link contacts the way I want it to.

I'd like to be able to add persons - that is, more than one persons - from my phonebook or email contacts (essetially my Contacts list), so that when I'm viewing the event, I can press their numbers or emails to call, text or mail them respectively.

I've tried figuring out how this can be done, but the only way I can see is to Add a "Special" event, and choose a contact. However, it only seems to work for one person, and it seems to be a bit of a roundabout way to do it. What am I missing?

I'm using an HTC Incredible S with Gingerbread. Thank you in advance :)

Hi there,

This is a great app. that I hope to keep as my main calendar long term.
I have just moved to Android after 25 years with Nokia (latterly Symbian 60) and I suspect a lot of other people will be doing the same.
There was a great suite of apps for Symbian 60 called 'Handy' by Paragon Software that I used (Weather/Calendar/Safe etc) but they only do HandySafe for Android and have no plans to develop Android stuff.
Your Gemini Calendar is the nearest to handy Calendar that I can find and if you keep refining it will be better. Nb they were very expensive apps but I was happy to pay.

Please consider the following improvements:

The best feature is the 'daily agenda' view that appears above the calendar as you move your finger along - it would be even better if the top display gave the DAY OF THE WEEK as well as the date to save looking for it in the bottom section.

In Month view it would be great if the last few days of the last month and the first few days of the next month could be 'live' without having to move to the corresponding month (ie 35 days at a glance) I guess this needs to be linked to improving the speed at which data loads as referred to in other posts here.

An Agenda view would be good (like the HTC sense full screen widget)

It would be good to have a choice of appointment types - HandyCalendar offered 'Apppointment/Reminder/AllDayEvent/Anniversary/Task.'
In particular the task list was really simple in that by default this list would just keep moving along to the current day until the task was deleted, as a daily reminder.

Sorry if some of this has been covered on this forum before but I am new here and just wanted to contribute.

Agree strongly with others here - Floating Event please - it's what I was rabbiting on about calling it 'task'

Also would like what I think someone called a 'nag' option - by this I mean the reminder keeps going until I silence it.

Thanks, Powell. Amazing job, indeed. I like your app a lot, but the only thing missing for me is ability to configure widget layout. This is the only reason I use CalWidget along with Gemini nowadays.

Is it possible to have a grouping by date on 4x2 widget and having a date as a group header? Also explicict headers for Today, Tomorrow (instead of plain vanilla date) would be great.

In short, you can refer to a screenshot here to get my point http://s3.appbrain.com/screen?id=-5529941109772124696&i=1

I find this one much more structured when there are many events on a widget.

Hello Powell,

Could you tell us if there is a plan to include the Task option within the calendar (specifically the Agenda view)? Calengoo is now doing it, but the program crashes so much it's just not reliable enough. The old Nokia calendar system did it by default. The old Palm Datebook did it by default. Pimlical does it by default. Could you include this option? Please see earlier comments and replies by myself and others - it's the brakeit / make it feature for me and others.

Please check out this link (See how in one of the pics shown there you have the Agenda view, where you can see your tasks and appointments in the same screen): Tasks

Hope this helps. Great work!

Hector

Hi! Thanks for the wish list - all of your requests are interesting and I will think about implementing them in the future.
Floating events would be especially great, the only thing to do is to make such events compatible to the Google calendar database - now every calendar data is saved in the common database, which does not support anything like floating events...

As has been mentioned previously, the separate Power Search application does support searching of the calendar

I guess that would be great if I wanted to install yet another app; leave my calendar to open that other app; and then possibly have to sift through the extra non-calendar stuff it finds.

Would be fine for a casual calendar user, but not a person who uses it extensively.

I find that the search on that standard calendar is working fine. so just sticking with it. That functionality is more important to me in the calendar app than all the fancy stuff, albeit nice, in this app.

am very interested in calendar, but - need to be able to "search" for events. is this implemented and perhaps I am just not finding it?

New version is available in the Market (1.0.12)

New features:

  • Adding new events by voice - new widget, available only for registered users, that allows preparing templates of events, that can be completed and added by simple click and voice recognition. Try new widget: "Gemini Voice Widget",
  • New simple and small widget 1x1, which displays only a date and number of events from now until the end of day,
  • Default events length can be now set in Preferences,
  • Progress Bar added in the Month View,
  • Improvements in data displaying in some views.

Problems with calendar reminders (in HTC devices with Gingerbread) will be solved in the next release, please, be patient.

Is there a way to use the calendar as a widget? I would Luke to display the entire calendar as a widget, not as a list of events.
