Get different emoticons?

I did a search, and also browsed the suggestions I got when I went to enter this new thread... nothing helped, so I hope it's not redundant.

Anyhoo! I really don't like the default emoticons. To me they're creepy and look like fat aliens (somebody else said "blob", but I always think obese aliens!)

My friend has an iPhone and she can have several choices. When she puts smilies in her messages to me, they show up as adorable little kitty faces! I would love kitty faces!
Is there a way to get that? An app, preferably? I really don't want to root, as I've heard you can have problems if you don't do it properly (and I would have no idea what I'm doing, I am NOT a techie type person). Though if I do root, I might as well also get rid of that stupid water-drop sound too.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S III SGH-T999 version 4.1.2 (I can give Kernel versions if that helps too)

Go to the app store and either download SMS pro or chomp SMS . They also have add-ons that enable emojis . The same ones that Iphones have

Handsent mms has all the same things as well, including the emoji plugin.
I-phone users can see them from your android phone after you send text/mms.

how about Go Sms with the plug-in? I honestly dont have any friends left with iphones so i cant test it. My wife has an old blackberry curve and the plug-in lets me see her emoticons/emoji but she cant seem to see mine

Not quite what I was looking for (the kitties I see are just plain black "silhouette" type). But it's a heck of a lot better than booger aliens!
