Get DX2, or wait for D3??

Im on an OGD here, and have been up for upgrade for about a month. Ive been holding off in hopes the Droid 3 would come soon but nobody really knows it would seem.

The DX2 seems mighty fine an upgrade since im not caring for 4G right now. Only difference i can see is .3 inches of screen difference and front facing camera. Should I just get this dang thing?

If you want a physical keyboard (and from what I've read, a slightly smaller screen at 4"), you better wait for the D3.

If you don't care about the keyboard and want a larger (4.3) screen, DX2.

No idea about any other differences (screen type, processor, internal memory...)

I think you'd be just fine with a X2 upgrade. It's certainly a really solid device even today for Android phones.

I got the Droid X2 and am liking it a lot, was a Droid 2 owner previously but was disappointed with the overall quality of the phone but loved the physical keyboard. I will probably buy a D3 when it comes out just to play with. To me the 4.3 vs. 4 screen doesn't really matter to me. Other than that is there much of a difference between specs wise. Is there a BIG difference between a Tegra 2 or a Dual Core OMAP in performance?

The reasons im waiting is because 1) Im not sure if I'll miss the hardboard or not. I definitely love the GB touch keyboard, but i also enjoy being able to text without looking at my screen with the slide out. Could get over it im sure. 2) Im also not sure how much id use the FFC. Id love to have this in the future but i wonder if i should even care since it will be wifi only? 3) My friend insists that the D3 will come with an unlocked bootloader. Im not sure if i care. I do enjoy being able to have stock Android when i want, no experience with blur.

Just not sure if any of this is worth waiting til the end of June for. So conflicted :(

I had the OG Droid as well and have been looking to upgrade since my USB port has been flaky lately and not charging easily. I was originally hoping for the Bionic, but since that has an unknown release data I started looking elsewhere.

The current LTE offerings are all rather dull (TB-battery; Charge-no LED; Revolution-??) and I decided that even though I am in a LTE city, I really have no need for LTE. The X2 had similar specs to the D3 (don't really use the hardware keyboard) and the [original spec] Bionic (don't need 4G) so it seemed like the obvious answer.

I rooted it the same day I got it, mainly to remove bloat software (including Flash) and can confirm that at the end of an average day I still have 40% battery remaining where I would have had to charge my OG Droid by now for the same usage.

Unless a spectacular review for the LG Rev comes out, or a new phone lands in the next 14 days, I think I will be happy with the X2!

I find the physical keyboards to be pretty agitating. Don't like having to slide open the phone and then peck away at each individual button.

Does z4 root work on droid x2? If so is it the perm or temp?
I believe everyone is using the GingerBreak root method currently on the X2. After rooting the OG Droid the "old fashioned" way years ago, it's amazing to think you can just download and install and app that roots with a single click!

Probably getting a little deep but is gingerbreak one click app like z4root?

I remember all the ADB Shell work I did on the Nexus One, the CLIQ and then on the Droid 2 (before Z4 Root). It is nice to not have to do that. But if it is that or no root, I'll jump on ADB anytime.

Ok. One last question I swear lol. If I put gingerbreak on my DROID x2 can I still get the gingerbread ota update when available? All I would do after gingerbreak is installed is bloat freezer.
Yes, you can still accept the OTA which will likely remove root. Afterwards, the assumption is that you can reapply Gingerbreak, but that will depend on what the OTA contains that might prevent Gingerbreak from working. No one knows for sure right now.
