Get the Ascend?

I am with Cricket and I was wondering if I should get the Ascend or wait many months until the Ideos X5? If I get the Ideo's I will be waiting a couple months after its release to see how good it is. I just have no idea when they plan on releasing the phone. I was thinking of getting the Ascend (maybe even the Zio) and then just get the Ideos if its a good phone after.

Anyways...what apps are good for battery life and stuff? I don't want to root the phone until the warranty is over. (Whatever Crickets warranty is...can someone say how long the whole warranty thing lasts before I can root it safely?).

And lastly, is ten or so hours of on and off use like text and web too much to ask from this phone? I do enjoy the battery life my older phone gave me...and would like to have a decent battery life here.

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks in advance.

Juice Defender, download Launcher Pro, it is a smooth launcher and also beautiful. You should get the Huawei Ascend. It is faster than the Zio even though it is cheaoper. The Zio looks cheaper, and the Ascend looks like a high-end phone. Juice Defender is to make battery last longer.

This phone will suffice your internet need. You get 5 gb of data use. It is pretty fast. P.S. what other phone did you use to have

The Huawei Ascend (Cricket version) is the first and only smart phone I have ever owned but man I love it. I know there are "better" or "more capable" Android phones but considering the low price of the phone and the low price of Cricket's service ... I don't think it can be beat! I love it!

Internet seems fast to me ... most apps seem to work (although I've found some that don't ... perhaps due to only running v 2.1 instead of the newer 2.2 and/or the 'speed' of the phone i.e., the CPU and whatnot) but over all it seems to work just fine.

I've only had mine a month and only recently really started using it 'heavily' so I can't comment on battery life just yet ...

Soon we will be able to overclock to 800 MHz, and I'm talking days.

You can't go wrong with the Ascend! Fantastic phone for the price.

Also....while it was at first thought that the X5 and even the X6 would be coming to Cricket it's looking now like they might not get either one.

I have a feeling Matt Stoiber (Cricket VP of Devices) quashed the deal when he dissed Huawei in an interview at CES when he reportedly said that when Cricket gets the LG Optimus (coming soon) he would be recommending it over the Ascend.

Big mistake! HUGE mistake!!! The Chinese are very sensitive.

(Not to mention that Huawei has been making phones for all the bigboys in the industry only under their names since 2000)

Go with the Ascend...you will honestly love it!

I have to say I've enjoyed playing with my Ascend thus far. Having used a crappy little Motorola flip phone on a prepaid service for the last 3 years, this phone is orders of magnitude better. My wife has had a slider for the last couple years from Metro, and after getting this new one, she said she can't believe she had the other one and LIKED it. On a budget, it's hard to beat this phone.

On the plus side, if my dear old dad ever manages to get another job (another casualty of the economic downturn), he might just get my wife's old phone, although after seeing ours, he's talking about wanting to get an Ascend for himself!

First things first, Pops.....LOL.
