Root Getting a replacement, A few ?'s. Its rooted

Newbie
So I just went to verizon and they are replacing my incredible because my trackpad doesn't scroll anymore and my volume down button doesn't work..
My phone is rooted, do i need to unroot it first?
and if so, how, without volume down working?
Has anyone sent in a rooted phone?
Do I HAVE to unroot it? will I get in trouble if I send it in rooted?
Thanks to anyone who can help me out

are you running a ROM? If you are, I would try to get it back to stock. If one of the techs boots it up and notices a different boot animation/etc they can charge you the $400+ sticker price for the replacement. You will probably be fine, but that's a big downside if you do get caught.

If your running stock I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Download Quickboot, then you can just click the icon select Reboot into Bootloader or w/e you need :)

No need for volume down button!

I'm with euph...better safe than sorry. If you're on a custom Rom, you may already have the reboot to bootloader option. If not, the Quickboot idea has been posed, hopefully it allows trackpad scrolling to select that option if it's lower in the list than the default. If not, CM7 most certainly does.

Once you get to hboot, all you need is volume up. Or you can use the RUU option if you'd rather. Not sure if it requires the use of the volume keys but I don't believe so. Never went that route myself but it's in the above link also.
