Getting Droid 1 or 2

Hello all. I'm currently using a Droid Eris rooted and I like it but I have been thinking about upgrading to a Droid 1 or Droid 2. I can get a Droid 1 for as low as $120 and the cheapest Droid 2 I have found is for like $200.

Now I know that the Droid 2 has a better keyboard and it can't be rooted yet so that's the only thing that's keeping me from buying the Droid 2. So my question is, is it worth it to spend like 70 more dollars and get the Droid 2? I can get the Droid 1 with a 16 gig sd card for $120. Should I get that one on CL or should I save up and get a good Droid 2? My budget is roughly $200 or so.

Thoughts? What should I do?

The ease of the D1 is def. an advantage, but the d2 does have some nice aspects. This is something that will just have to debate yourself. If you have the eris you should be able to do an annual upgrade soon anyways, why dont you just wait and get the T-Bolt of something like that.

well my budget is $200 and I am not up for an upgrade, I am purchasing a phone off of my local CL. The only thing keeping me from getting the Droid 1 is that the keyboard is aweful. I can get Droid 1s for fairly cheap. Less than $150. The cheapest Droid 2 I can get is around $200.

So my question is, is it worth the $50 or so more to get the Droid 2?

I say it depends on your view or blur - launcherPRO - vanilla ROM. D1 is vanilla D2 is blur, but you can always put your own home replacement on there.

Now, personally I rarely use the keyboard on the D1...I bought the D1 because I wanted a keyboard, but I found that the on screen keyboard is sufficient...D2 has swype also

Unless you plan to get into rooting/ROMing/theming/etc., it's absolutely worth the extra money for the D2 simply for the RAM upgrade. The D1 can be overclocked pretty far, but you're still limited by the paltry 256 MB of RAM it has. Unless the locked bootloader is a big deal to you, the D2 is more "future-proof".

Yeah I've heard it was a big ram upgrade. The thing I'm worried about with the Droid 1 is the keyboad. Is the keyboard on the Droid 1 as bad as all of the reviews that I have read. I"m leaning to the Droid 2 and thanks for the input but I'm pretty sure the either phone will be an upgrade over my Eris.

The keyboard on the D1 is definitely nothing to write home about, but in the five minutes or so I've spent playing around with the D2, it didn't seem like a huge improvement. It's worth going into a Verizon store to test it out and see what you like.

And you're right that anything will be an improvement over your Eris! It'll just be a little while longer before you're saying the same thing about the D2 than if you got the D1 ;)
