Root Getting GPS working on HACK3DAO5P/ TH3ORY ROM?

[WA_Bob]

I love this ROM and it's been good to me so far. The only thing it doesn't want to do is GPS - it won't get a lock under any circumstances. I've tried GPS status to kick start it, but that doesn't work. Anyone have any suggestions as to what might help or am I just going to have to switch over to another ROM to get some GPS love and service?

Have you tried the Sense ROM trick?

If you haven't..

Make a backup of Theory
Full Wipe
Flash Sense ROM
Get a lock in Google Maps
Boot to recovery, full wipe
Restore Theory
GPS should work fine from there on out.

It sounds asinine, but it really works. I had to do it myself and I haven't had a GPS issue since

Indeed, it does sound nutty. But I'll give it a shot and see if it helps. Thanks!

I'm very new to this, what does "getting a lock in google maps" mean? Sorry for sounding so mediocre. :/

Open google maps on a sense rom and allow it to find your position with GPS

okay, thank you so much. and once it finds you on google maps, does the GPS become stable? or is this just a one time thing?

There is an issue with GPS on AOSP roms, this fix was found by someone where you can get a fix once on a Sense rom then restore a backup of an AOSP rom and it fixes the GPS. Sometimes it seems like it will quit working (after a new rom flash) and you have to do the fix again.
