Dude robo its obvious you have a lemon just exchange the damn thing and quit comparing a broken device to the iphone. I have had my droid since day one and I have also owned an iphone, I can say from personal experience the droid is by far the superior phone.
i use all 3. when i need them.
The small vertical is ok. but the iphone had better response
the wide horizontal one is annoyingly not responsive.- iphone is better.
the physical keyboard......it to damn small and its flush, i cant seem to know what im hitting..... it ok but could use some leverage like the blackberry...which was the lst phone i had...
and it totally not me messing up.
I did the exact compairison with the iphone and STILL lag on the droid,
Plus what kicks my a$$ is that i watch the virtual keyboard bring up the letters wen chosen but when im completing my word, i misses 60% of my choses letters.
You know what I mean??
It so annoying im about the throw this at a wall.
Furthermore, the screen is heat sensored. so when you go accross the screen with out touching it, sometimes it moves my itself.
Hey, Verizon made this to beat the iPhone so im just stating the facts.
At least im getting my point out to the public.
And YES Droid is Superior.
1.) What do you mean by "choppy interface actions"? Some things, such as home screen navigation could be smoother, but I would in no way classify them as "choppy"
2.) I have never had an app force close.
3.) text misspellings? The physical keyboard does not correct misspellings, only the virtual keyboard does.
4.) I have had no minor freezing.
5.) Unlocking the phone has worked fine every time so far.
Mine's been fine for all the issues listed above, haven't had any of them. The only thing that really drives me nuts is sometimes when touching a menu selection or web link, the screen will instantly auto-scroll to the end of the list or bottom of the website. It occasionally does this in some games, too. I'm not sure if it's a "feature" that I'm just not aware I'm invoking.

I think those who haven't had freezes or app force closures are people who have not tried the market for free goodies. seriously.
But my biggest headache now after 2 weeks is about half the time going into texting the phone shutsoff and restarts. It was fine until 2 days ago.
can anyone say HTC Passion![]()
I have downloaded several apps from the app market and have had no freezes.
I currently use: Weather Channel, some battery widget, twidroid, wireless on/off widgit, Taskiller, Picsay, Google Sky Map, Backgrounds, Google Voice, ConnectBot, Imusic, PandaBeta, Speedtest, ShopSavy, Places Directory.
I have yet to have a single force close.
I have tons of free goodies and no force closes here either....
Something is fishy with those who are having these problems.. the fun part is narrowing it down.
But I think I'll swap for cash. I love most of what it does but it really is crappy at the most important thing. It is a lousy phone.

How is it a lousy phone?
The first week I got my phone, I asked everyone how I sounded. Everyone said I sounded really clear. The battery life is amazing! So how exactly is it a bad phone?
Coverage on Verizon is by far the best in my area. I have yet to run into a spot where I do not have coverage.
the droid is awesome! i love it. but i do agree with this point. making a call should involve 1 or 2 less steps. But just plain dialing calls or better yet, ending a call takes jumping through hoops.
coverage as usual is great. the audio is great. the screen auto off and back on works fine.
But just plain dialing calls or better yet, ending a call takes jumping through hoops. my treo took one hand to do everything. with the droid it almost takes two hands to answer every call. and the contact app is horrendous except for the voice search.
I think most BB and Palm users will agree that a phone should be a phone first. No dedicated send/end buttons is just plain dumb.

Yea narrowing it down...
lets start by GAMES.
We need to figure out if people use this for business ONLY or full multimedia usage...like me.
Maybe if users install FREE GAMES have the problems like i have??
or id users are just installing things that are FREE but for business and purchasing the apps.??
I guess this is a start.
Loving the droid, loving the perfect stability, and loving the JAW DROPPING screen. If a better iphone comes out, I may very well switch when my contract is up. Who knows. I am open to anything.first i wake the phone up, then i unlock the screen, then i do what you said. clearly anything can be made harder or easier. the way it is ain't bad. i just happen to think this could be made easier. if i wanted tieing my shoes to be easier, i'd state that too.If I want to call someone, I hit the "contacts" app, go to the name of the contact, click on the picture (note, this is different than clicking on their name), and then click the phone icon that comes up. Could this be easier? Yes, but so could tieing your shoes.
