getting tired of this now (3.2 update)

Last night, my A500 reported that there is a system update, file size 320 megs. I assumed this was the long awaited 3.2 update. So, I clicked to download. I have been doing this - clicking on download - now for a few times. Each time the download finshes and the it goes back to redownloading the 320 megs all over again.

I have no idea what's going on. Any ideas?

My tab is not rooted. Wifi signal is strong. And, just for the heck of it, I have kept the tab plugged into the electrical outlet.

What else can I do?

Shut it off. Leave it off for at least 10 seconds, but I'd recommend leaving it alone for a minute. Reboot and retry.

None of the above.

Go intto settings, manage apps, all apps - find the system updater and clear it's data, reboot, should reprompt download.
That will fix it.

After 2 failed updates to 3.2 I tried this fix and it worked. Thanks andy d

I did the update sequence eight times. On the ninth try, it worked. So am now officially on 3.2. Thanks to all who helped with suggestions and comments.

TBH, I have no idea what worked and why it took me 8 tries to get the update. But now it is done and I don't feel any different.

After playing around with the A500 with the 3.2 update, I have some commonplace observations...

First, I was surprised to find that my rather old (at least 3 yrs) Seagate external drive - ntfs - was read by the tab. But a HDD from an old (2 yrs) laptop which I put in a case did not. I have a new WD HDD (500GB) which I am gonna test 2morrow. It would be really cool if this actually works.

Second, I thought that the 3.2 update would help with increasing the strength of wifi reception - perhaps wrongly. I see no difference...if anything, its slightly worse.

Flipping through screens remains smooth - I notice no difference between this latest update and 3.1.

I still don't have a SD card, so have not been able to test what improvements have occurred. High to e I got one. Only problem is that I want a 32GB card and not the more common (in my current neck of the woods) 4 and 8 GB versions.

I believe rooting is not yet possible, but expected sometime soon. So trying new roms is out of the picture for the moment.

Keyboard feels a bit laggy....but then it always did on this and a few other forums that I haunt. I am gonna test this some more.

All in all, there is nothing really to write home about with this update...but then that was to be expected.

The next big question that I have is whether ICS will work on the A500. Somehow, I suspect that Acer will not allow it. They will launch their next generation of the Iconia - whatever it may be named in the future - with ICS, which will be a real pity because I would like to use my tab for at least two years or so...but....!

I couldn't find a guide to root yet but I was already rooted so just flashed this.
[ROM] Acer_A500 OTA 7.006.01 [HC 3.2] Rooted w/ Busybox for CWR

You could go back to 3.1 to root then flash it. All is good. Has anybody tried out the app stetching/expanding thingy yet?

And it's no big deal.... what I've heard from the ones that has the 3.2 update, there isn't so much different from the 3.1..... and that is probably true.
I have no problems with using 3.1 and I'm quite happy to wait a while before updating, just to make sure that all the major bugs are gone!

their is not a lot to write home about with the new 3.2 update.
Apart from being able to transfer apps to sd2 which does not work on mine.

3.2 allows you to access files from NTFS formatted USB drives. I have opened pictures in JPEG using File Manager app.:)
