getting tired of this now (3.2 update)

hey folks
total newbie here
just got my tab a few hours ago
when I check for updates it offers me 4.01 which I guess is icecream sandwich
anybody else seen this?
I'm in North Carolina USA
haven't taken the plunge yet

Those who have had trouble getting the update installed. I noticed on my tablet that I have to keep the monitor active for the time of the downloading and not to do anything else. Then install it directly. If my monitor goes inactive/dark, whatever for some reason it wont trigger the installing progress. It just tries to download the update again.

But that was just my case, no idea about others.

Last night, my A500 reported that there is a system update, file size 320 megs. I assumed this was the long awaited 3.2 update. So, I clicked to download. I have been doing this - clicking on download - now for a few times. Each time the download finshes and the it goes back to redownloading the 320 megs all over again.

I have no idea what's going on. Any ideas?

My tab is not rooted. Wifi signal is strong. And, just for the heck of it, I have kept the tab plugged into the electrical outlet.

What else can I do?
I have a 4G hotspot from VZW and it was done in 15 mins!
If that dose not work then I would try to wipe the tablet and start over if you can.

I don't think USA has started receiving it yet. Let me know if it's otherwise.

I got my 3.2 update a little over a week ago.
I'm in south central Pennsylvania

Edit:: now that I check the dates of the posts, what I said is probably old news lol

I just got my Iconia tab yesterday, and several failed update attempts had me worried. I found similar advice elsewhere, with several reports of success: settings|screen|timeout - set to 30 min.

It seems to be during the unzip/install that this is critical. I had downloaded (again) but decided to research before installing. Once I maxed the screen timeout, it completely unzipped, installed, shut down, and restarted itself very smoothly.

Still don't even have the 3.1 update in Canada. 3.2 seems a long way off.

Seriously? That can't be right. I would have thought that everyone has by now got 3.2 given that ICS is just around the corner.

The good thing though is that you can still root your device and play with roms. With 3.2 you can't...

Edit...apparently, you can root 3.2...

Is there no online repository where people can et the download, that are not getting it through the proper system update channels?

I got my update ages ago though... and was so easy to do.

Finally I have been able to update from 3.01 to 4.0x
It only took about 10 prior failed attempts until I decided to search for why the download kept freezing about 1/3 of the way through.
Rather than try to narrow down exactly the cause of the problem, I decided to simultaneously apply all the fixes listed in this thread and thankfully one or all of what I tried worked.

I did the following:

Cleared 'cache data as per post no. 5 above.
Disabled auto screen rotate
set screen time out to 30min
Left the download dialog uppermost rather than hiding it.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Screen Timeout is the problem.
I have been trying to resolve this on my own and came across this about the same time I resolved.
I did clear the cache because the update wouldn't fire off proper from failed attempts. It didn't help. Cleared cache and set screen time out to 30 mins and it worked.
My guess is it puts the device in stand by mode mid download because when I wake up the screen the download is stopped and wifi even appears disconnected. Then it restarts and I'm guessing corrupts the update.
