Root Ginger Villain 1.6

I remembered seeing the same in the XDA thread recently, so just had a check. The advice given was (of course!) exactly what SUroot just suggested. The person with the problem doesn't seem to have reported back, which hopefully is a good sign...

Well, totally forgot to reply last night (sorry about that) but just to confirm, I did factory reset through CWM then flashed the ROM again and it's working fine. Home button is working again and the screenlock is restored to working order.

So thanks guys.

It might be worth doing another wipe but clear data, app and dalvik then try flashing again, it can't have wiped properly if all your apps were still there.

Hmmm, this leads into what I was going to ask next.

What is the correct way of flashing an updated ROM?

As follows?

  • Download ROM Zip
  • Copy to root of SD Card
  • Back up apps and app data using Titanium BU
  • Back Nandroid backup through CWM recovery (backed up to PC)
  • Wipe data/factory reset through CWM
  • Install zip from Sd card via CWM rec.
  • Run script to move dalcik cache back to sd
  • restore wanted apps through Titanium BU
Titanium was already present when i flashed 1.6. Is it a stock app now?

What are the best methods if any of the ablove is incorrect?
When I wipe data through CWM, it only wipes phone memory. Is that normal (SD unaffected).

That's fine. Yes titanium part of gv.

If you're having to wipe, yes do titanium.

The cwm wipe should also wipe ext partition but not sd fat

Flashed this one yesterday evening and 24hrs on am yet to find an issue with it. Everything I've tested so far has worked perfectly. Really liking this rom.

Most obvious one is a Honeycomb style circle battery. I've not systematically compared to work out whether there are others.

Plus status bar and notification area. The kitchen doesn't control too much. More for tweaks than a whole new look

I'm keeping it anyway, thanks!

Not a fan of the circle battery thing, I'll stick with numbers. But the see-through notification bar and GingerVillain text is a nice touch.

Just trying out the honeybread theme and in launcherpro everything runs smoother than the stock theme, why is that? I expected the opposite.

In the notes it says that GPS is fixed. I can't get it to work. Google maps won't find my position. Any ideas

Aah, perfect, I've been wanting a blue theme for ages... now, does anyone know where I can get the blue Messaging icon? I use GOSMS, and even though I have it on Messaging, I can't find the blue icon for messaging anywhere on my phone.

Copy the honeybread.apk theme to your PC. Put .zip on the end of the file name. Open it with winrar (or alternative zip programme) and it will be in res/drawable somewhere

Aah, good shout, I was trying to do that with Astro, but I was getting nowhere. I'll give it a look in a bit, although I think I've found something equally as pretty. :)

Thanks, Dan.

My Navigon has stopped working. Tried to reinstall but still no good. Off to see if I can sort it out.
If it used to work with GV, then there is no reason why it shouldn't now.
Running Aura here and it has some cool graphics with 3D buildings, Sign Posts and Lane Assist. :)
