Hi all, have flashed this kernel with this rom Gingervillain 1.4 - Eviollet HAVS AXI CFS, to gat better battery usage. Have enabled a screen off profile with set cpu to 128max. All is well except i cant pick up any wifi now, sticks at scanning for networks. If i restore my nandroid with default kernel all is well again. Any ideas?

Did you definitely install the Gingerbread version, not the foryo version? Wifi drivers are handled differently in GB.

Edit, now this is strange, just reflashed it and all is well, perhaps it's just my girlfriend's shitty bt home hub. Has found my router straight away?????

dont set a screen off profile if you are using axi
it does this on its own
just set min and max in set cpu thats it

lol you naughty girl Susan
he says in caps DO NOT on his thread . tut tut

Are you sure? He says this:

Do you recommend any settings with SetCPU? : If you're using an AXI kernel, DON'T use 128Mhz when the screen is on. Other than that, I don't recommend anything in particular. I currently use ManU-1.1 128-1140 ondemand. No other profile.

and...

AXI. AXI optimisation is available in some kernels : [Tweak] AXI Frequency Tweaks for performance and battery savings - xda-developers. This should further reduce the battery usage when the screen is on. However, 128Mhz IS INCOMPATIBLE WITH THIS!!!. So if you want to use the AXI patch, use SetCPU and define a profile that sets the minimum speed to 256Mhz when the screen is on, and sets it back to 128Mhz when the screen is off. This is NOT necessary with the ManU kernels as it is done automatically by the kernel.

So he is saying you dont need to set a screen off profile to reduce to 128.

However cant see anywhere where he says you cant use a screen off profile.

I have no ill effects.

Don't think you'll see any ill effects unless you set max too low. When I stopped using a profile I didn't see any loss in battery life either, but as with many things it might depend on your configuration.

Mines min 128 which axi does anyway. I just cap at 245. 128 was too low for me and would suspect for most

He he, I've been cruising around bunch of ROMs, but came back to GV v1.4 at the end. :D

Tried MIUI, but didn't feel comfortable with the UI.
Tried Oxygen, and it was like the twin brother of GV, but missed the CM settings there and didn't like the idea of repartitioning my card to FAT32 and flashing Hboot to take advantage of more internal storage. :(
Tried Redux, but blutetooth didn't want to work on my carkit. :(

So, back to GV (this time with v1.4) and I'm loving it. :)
