Looks like this is due soon for UK unlocked as its in 'test' mode. Might try it, funny its taken so long for it to get to the unlocked handsets.

I downloaded it months ago and flashed via odin, it was so easy and you dont need to root. Not massive difference, slightly better battery life.

It's ridiculous. 2.3.6 is being released in other parts of the world, why are Samsung UK so slow?

We always get the short straw when it comes to software updates, HTC UK was the same.

Just because there's a 2.3.6 release somewhere in the world doesn't mean that every handset running an earlier 2.3.x will get (or even require) it. The longer a handset has been on the market the more likely it is to have already received any fixes/patches it required, and ultimately if Samsung and/or its partner networks deem there's no requirement to update a device it won't be.

I have just upgraded to 2.3.5 on Orange and damn, that was one hella update. Noticed improvements;

-Camera focus seems fixed though need to test more to say for sure
-Home screen seems faster and slicker
-wake up seems quicker
-home button more responsive
-Faster in general
-faster browser

Thats what ive noticed in a week.

Bad things I have noticed;

-The vibrate symbol is always on, which is annoying because it wasn't in previous builds and I always run vibrate for notifications...

-Swype now has options for words in a bar between the text and the keypad, which disappears when there is no word options, this means that the send button in text messages for example can move up and down seemingly at random and I often hit attachments now instead of send. Easy fix for sammy/swype would be to always keep the space where the word choice area is, or go back to the old way of word choice?

You think that is ridiculous.... I'm still stuck on 2.3.3 and no sign of any update soon with Bell (Canada)

Only device I'm aware of as getting 2.3.6 is the Skyrocket (US/AT&T), which isn't even a real SGS2. It uses the Snapdragon S3 chipset, not Exynos.

As for the actual SGS2, and not derivatives, 2.3.5 is the latest available and has been rolling out in various countries and various carriers since late September.
