Gingerbread 2.3 (not yet) available!

If you have the update through Kies (in the uk) before it was withdrawn, using your phone keypad, dial *#1234# and look at what the build date is and post it up. Seems that people have been given the same version as the beta that was released weeks ago.
 
Hi, my wife has an SGS that's still running on 2.1. She hasn't put oclf or rooted it or anything, its just bog standard and she is on vodafone with a handset that she got from cpw. Will she be able to upgrade to 2.3 directly from 2.1, or will she have to go to 2.2 first?

When we went from 2 to 2.1 we had to do the registry edit trick, so will we have to do the same thing again?

Any help on what to do will be much appreciated.
 
What are you quadrant scores like on gingerbread (yeah yeah I know they aren't a perfect reflection of phone performance but I just want to get an idea if there were any major performance changes, maybe something that helps the lag).

I updated yesterday morning, Build date is Sun Mar 20 14:46:30 KST 2011.

Whats that mean Liam?

I wouldn't call it faulty. I've been running it for 3 weeks or so with zero issues. It is the same version though which seems a little odd. Perhaps they made a mistake in issuing itwhich was why it was pulled. I'd sit tight and see how it gets on and what updates are released in the coming days or weeks.

Do you think they will issue a newer update for people who didnt get the version we have? If so, will we get it too?
 
Turned on the computer this morning and I got a notification that there was a new firmware version available so i plugged in the phone and booted up Kies in great excitement only for Kies to claim I was on the latest firmware.

How disappointing...

I am on 2.2 in Ireland (we still havent got the 2.2.1 update!!!!)

Oh do I know that feeling?!?:mad:
DamienGTO's ultimate v.13 beta is built on 2.2.1 and it seems to have speeded up my SGS if that's any help...

I have been toying with the idea of flashing a custom rom, I just cant stand the idea of having to set everything back up (Link contacts, album art info etc etc)

I know its a bit silly as I will have to do that once Gingerbread is available anyway but I have done it several times now and it gets old very quick.

I think I might wait in desperate hope that we get Gingerbread here.
 
Hey guys, im new to Android and so not done and update yet.

Ive been enjoying the last week downloading apps and widgets customising it and was wondering when Kies tells me gingerbread is available will my phone be reverted to a clean phone or will everything on the phone stay intacted?

Did it again when I booted up the laptop at home this evening.
"Kies is ready to upgrade your phones firmware."

When I boot up kies it says I have the latest version.

If i recall from the froyo update your phone keeps everything intact but you get better performance if you wipe it after updating and re-install stuff. Just make sure you backup your contacts/photos etc with Kies before updating just incase.

Any more news on this update?

Wouldn't surprise me, any news on orange? Ahh well I can manage fine on froyo for now, its when the GS2 comes out Ill be jealous!

Everyone's still going to blame Sammy for it, even if Samsung decided to release Ice Cream for the I9000 (highly unlikely). HTC has decided not to release Gingerbread for the Desire, yet no one seems to care.
 
I don't see how Google can pull an update for somebody elses phone, Android is ment to be open source. If theres a problem with the firmware surely that should down to Samsung to identify and address, not google.

Seems weird to me, id like to know why google felt the need to pull this as I can't see much wrong with it.
