Gingerbread 2.3 (not yet) available!

I was running jvk for 3 weeks i dont think its as good as jpy 2.2.1 but it should be and better

I tried JVK for about a week, used to drain out the battery like crazy, barely could get about 10 hrs thru one charge... JVK ofcourse was better than the 1st Beta release of GB, but if you can barely get one business day on a charge then no point of having the fw.. so went back to JPY... What's the verdict on JVB?? have read that a lot of people have issues with no being able to put the phone in recovery mode after the update and that the menu and back key lights are on as long as the screen is active... Is any of this correct???

I'm using JVB, it's by far the smoothest firmware I've used, everything is very smooth, no lag at all. With JPY I always got wierd lag in games now and again, not so with JVB, silky smooth.

Benchmark scores are down but meh, whos cares about quadrant.

Theres a bug with software update app causing high battery usage, just remove it with titanium backup, solves the problem.

Hey, this is gonna sound dumb.. but how do I do it and what file is to be removed.

Hi There
Does anyone know when this is available for Norway? And does it support Norwegian language now? I've downloaded the 'update.zip' file, but does not want to use it if OTA is comming my way soon.
Regards - happy N1 owner

I don't see how Google can pull an update for somebody elses phone, Android is ment to be open source. If theres a problem with the firmware surely that should down to Samsung to identify and address, not google.

Seems weird to me, id like to know why google felt the need to pull this as I can't see much wrong with it.

Well, it's their OS, I'm sure they can pull it if they deemed it faulty.

Galaxy S Gingerbread update 'temporarily suspended by Google'

Turned on the computer this morning and I got a notification that there was a new firmware version available so i plugged in the phone and booted up Kies in great excitement only for Kies to claim I was on the latest firmware.

How disappointing...

I am on 2.2 in Ireland (we still havent got the 2.2.1 update!!!!)

Same here, notification but connected Galaxy to Keis and no update.
Anyone have any idea when Google will have it available again?
What network are you on? I'm on 3 and got the 2.2.1 update about six weeks ago :D

Not dumb at all, first of all you need to root your phone, then download titanium backup, select backup/restore and find "software update 1.5.0", select it and uninstall, done. :)

I recommend using CF Root 3.1 with ext4 add-on.

I can see this dragging on for weeks while they get everything sorted, my wife is eager to get the update but I couldnt be bothered so sold mine on ebay and looking to get the galaxy s 2 on release. I keep checking back on this page to see if it has been released again. Like an addict.:D

used JVB for 2 days now i'm back to JPY, no rotation on my phone, have calibrated it but compass in google maps does not function. tired to check auto rotation, hard reset but nothing happened. battery does not last as long as on froyo.

I'm on Juwe 4.1, everything is just perfect, better battery life, much more smooth compared to 2.2.1 and this is just with a basic kernel. Everything works, rotate, BL doesn't stay on when screen on etc, no wifi issues, there's nothing to complain about other than voodoo sound (coming soon ;) ) and sharpness if you want it (which i don't)

Seriously forget about kies and stock and try and out Juwe's rom, you won't want to go back

Oh man, I can't wait for this. Bizarrely Kies keeps telling me there is an update ready yet nothing ever happens. Fingers crossed it's ready for the weekend.

I am also looking forward to it.

Hows things in Indiana Scum2k

Incredibly frustrating isn't it, but then I may well get the S2 anyway.
It is for sure! Still I always expected Orange to be slow to release Gingerbread for their current users in trying to boost their future sales pitch for the premium priced Galaxy S2...they'd deny that I'm sure. Still I'm just a bit of a cynic I guess :)

Don't no if this is true was posterd on an other forum

"Samsung Benelux: No update for Gingerbread SGS

According to Samsung Benelux is no 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) update more. The update is officially called off by Samsung. According to Samsung would be too many technical problems to the 2.3.x update to pass on the SGS. So the SGS will officially remain Froyo.

Source: Samsung Benelux (04/29/2011)

Will be a shame if this is true.

Although i find it difficult to believe they would go to all the trouble of doing all the background work to just give up...

sorry the info i posterd before is wrong
Some guy told this on a Dutch forum Because he couldn't give any source someone asked Samsung Benelux trough Twitter if this is correct. Samsung replied: "wij hebben niets gezegd ... behalve dat hij ingetrokken is. De reden weten wij hier niet." or in english: we never said this... except that is has been pulled and we are not aware of the reason.

I updated to JVB yesterday and now the phone has become very laggy. For example I tried to call someone today and when i pressed the call button nothing happened I pressed it again and did this several times. It took over a minute for the call to start ringing. When I ended the call I had half a dozen open and active call screens to end and close.

Also my apps won't update either.

Not sure what's up with it. I rooted it using GF-Root which I found using google. Then (going by earlier advice) I deleted the update 1.5.0 which apparenlty is what drains the battery.

ANy ideas?

Hi guys thought i would come over and let you no what i have found out i'm on the Vodafone forum
For some reason Vodafone customers were offered the update the same time as non branded and they were bragging about it,My phone is unbranded and i was also offered the update, At 08:00 Am UK time the update was pulled and also the Vodafone one was pulled.
After lengthy conversations with Service center support i found out it was Android (Google) that instructed Samsung to pull this update.
There has been loads of speculation but they were not happy that same week that people are not getting the Google experience and why they were bringing a faulty Firmware out.
Samsung have now clammed up and not saying any thing we need theses phone to be the same a 2.3.4 with video calling but i can not see Samsung rolling that out

Well all gingerbread is onhold.
It can be anything, but it still very strange and unusual. I guess Samsung is not happy about it either.
I hope it give them time to sort out some bugs.

i'm just wondering why lots have problem with JVB, i've running it for a weeks now and nothing faulty i found. flashed it using odin.
