So then has anybody determined yet then if the ROM over at XDA and the OTA everybody seems to be getting this AM is the same? If so... then heck, I think I will just load the ROM over at XDA and avoid these couple known issues... Verizon may put out an update later to address it..???

Same here. I got mine last September, though (not day 1).

I hope they don't stop updating us because of all the whiners. Get over it already and love your new Sprint phone! LOL

(just kidding about the "whiners" - this is weird. I do hope I get the update, "Sprint" build prop or not)

I bought my phone last November and got the update this morning. It downloaded to my cache folder on the phone and I moved it to my sdcard. But I had to go all the way back to stock froyo to get it to install.

That's what I've always recommended. If you can flash a rooted, and in this case fixed version, don't ever go the OTA route. Stay rooted and flash your way forward. Only thing you won't get is an updated radio which is perfectly fine by me and the updated bootloader which is once again a score. You can always update hboot but downgrading is not good.

Its the same file as the one at XDA that the ROMs were based off of. One person, I forget his name, had uploaded the file to a filesharing site. He said he found it in his cache folder and thats where mine was after I got the OTA notification.

So being the pest I am then, can you point me to the file I need to download at XDA that is the latest they have out... pretty please :-)

Actually, the ROMs over at xda are based off the earlier (4.06.605.2) leak, except for the one post that has the 4.06.605.3 (OTA), but it was generated from a 4.06.605.2 -> 4.06.605.3 patch and a nandroid backup. I know a few developers are waiting for a clean 4.06.605.3 to update their ROMs.

I don't believe anyone has put the latest OTA (4.06.605.3) up anywhere, and a few developers are waiting to update their ROMs to the latest, once a proper file is captured. So if someone has a full update downloaded on their cache, they should definitely upload it somewhere and share it!

I also got mine last November (Black Friday :).. but am still waiting for my 'Bread... Maybe tomorrow morning?

Ok. I dled the OTA file. Changed it to update leaving the .zip that was already there. I placed it in the root of my FAT32 verified SD card (/sdcard) and I go into HBOOT and I get nothing.

It keeps saying no image or wrong image.

What am I doing wrong?

Seems pretty clear that everyone reporting on this forum of receiving notification of the OTA update is getting it in the morning.

I remember for Froyo I didn't get it until 10am or so.

The only way I got it to run was to go all the way back to stock froyo using the image file off of dougpiston.com, and still had s-off after.

I got it around 9 am, actually got it twice as I restored an older backup after the first attempt at installing it failed. As soon as I restored the backup the OTA was waiting to download again. Unfortunately it still wouldn't install and I had to go all the way back to stock froyo to get it to load.

I am on stock froyo and have never been rooted. This file is the actual OTA but for some reason it will not update for me.

So...after reading about the issues concerning apps on SD card after updating to Gingerbread I figured I'd try something. I went into my list of apps in the AppBrain app (most of the time it's the only way I can view them all...ever since update to new market when I look under "my apps" it only shows 2...YouTube and GoogleMaps) and every app that was listed as being "on SD" I moved back to phone. I'll then move them all back to SD after I do the update...when I get it. We'll see if that does anything. Also thinking of unmounting the SD card before I do the update and then mounting it back up again after the update is finished.

You might want to root first as if you don't you may never be able to as the OTA fixes the exploit Unrevoked used to gain root acesss.

That was me and yes, it was in my /cache folder. I was just one of the one's who got the OTA early. My screen says 4.3 and I have Sprint in the Market as well. So Verizon did a great job on quality control. So far I've noticed the phone is a little snappier and the graphics are slightly different...just slightly.

The guys at XDA have looked at the OTA I uploaded on Friday and compared it to the 4.06.605.2 -> 4.06.605.3 nandroid upload from another person who got an OTA and I think they are the same.

I really never needed to root. I have had the DInc since day one and love it the way it is.

So your was a complete OTA not some patched together pieces. I used your file and have the same sprint issues and app to sd issues. Notice your in houston me to. any idea if we can just flash the fixed build prop rom from xda using hboot method. Not sure if you can run an update file over an update file of the same rom, just with the sprint fixes.

Yes, my 87.77MB (87.8 on the update screen) file was the OTA to go from Froyo to Gingerbread. I had never downloaded the 4.06.605.2. My phone was bone stock and never rooted when it downloaded the OTA. I subsequently rooted and achieved S-OFF with Unrevoked Forever and then followed their instructions for installing the OTA file that was on my phone. So now I'm fully updated with my Sprint EVO (j/k). I haven't tried fixing the the build prop, one of the devs at XDA said it really wasn't a huge deal. But I'll probably do it eventually.

After OTA install at 1:30AM PDT (never rooted) I noticed a couple of apps missing from the main list that I had on the SD card. Pulled the battery+card, rebooted, then inserted the card. Apps reappeared.

My market doesn't say Sprint or Verizon just market. Unless I don't know where to look but I've looked just about everywhere in it. My screen does say 4.3 but thats all I can find wrong and it doesn't seem to affect performance at all. I have build 4.06.605.3 installed coming from stock froyo.

Do you have the 'new market'? If so press 'Apps' and then on the next screen scroll down. Under 'Editor's Choice' I have a 'Sprint' tile. Tap that one and you see Sprint apps, like 'Sprint VRS', 'Sprint Mobile IP', etc. Pretty funny.

Took me a while to find the Sprint stuff too, saw people talking about it on XDA.
